By making use of a packet such as above indicated and for the display of various articles, such, for instanee,'as paper and envelops, silk, confectionery, fancy crackers, etc., the articles in the packets proper may, when the telescopic cover of the box is re moved, be plainly visible through the transparent sheath or covering so that the full attractiveness of the goods may be perceived, and yet the articles are effectually protected from injury by being touched by the fingers of salesmen or customers, and from dust,

In the draw1ngs,-A represents an ordinary open top box, such as a common stationery box, and B represents stationery therein comprising envelops encircled by silk bands a and tied with bow knots b.
C represents a covering of transparent sheet material such as glac paper which incloses and covers the bottom, sides and open top of the receptacle A and through which the contents, and the character of the contents, protected by said covering, are visible without the removal of the covering.
For the open-top receptacle covered or inclosed by the transparent sheet material, a telescopic cover D of, a usual form is provided.
The merchandise packagesput up at the factory and displayed in a store are of such character as to thoroughly protect from becoming soiled or otherwise injured, the contents of thebox proper and yet' by the mere removal of the telescopic cover the stationery or Whatever articles of sale are contained in the box are clearly discernible.
In the drawings, Figs. 1 and 2, the covering C, which, as before stated, is'glac paper or like transparent sheet material is employed as a complete wrapping for the top, bottom, opposite sides, and opposite ends of the box A; but, as represented in Fig. 4;the covering C is indicated as a tubular sheath which may beslip ed on and about, and whenever desired, slid off from the box and its contents, and this sheath while preferably composed of transparent sheet material need not necessarily, and for the acquirement of some of the advantages accruing under this invention, be transparent material.
