The object of this invention is to provide a very simple and efficient device for holding type in a confined line, while allowing the removal-of any individual type for the p purpose of correction. Y

My typeholder is designed particularly to cooperate with grooved type, for example the type grooved on its opposite sides shown in my Patent No. 836,026. My holder may cooperate with a suitable type case or magazine and havetype assembled in it either by nand or otherwise, and it may be employed in conjunction with, a printing machine or form holder for the purpose of installing the various-lines thereon or removing a line to enable one or more type to be corrected.

In its preferred form my type holder is embodied in a tube having a longitudinal. slot, which form of holder is also my invention irrespective of the correcting enlargement.

To allow the removal of any particular type in the line, I provide at a certain point in the holder an enlargement a. Adjacent to the enlargement a. the holder is preferably reinforced by a partial sleeve embracing the tube. The enlargement is wide enough so that the base t of the type may pass through it. while the head of the type cannot, the head being longer than the base. Accordingly to remove any particular type, it is only necessary to shove the line length wise in the holder until the desired type stands at the enlargement a. then it may be By having the holder substantially twice the length of a line of type and having the enlargement at the center of the holder.' it is possible to remove any type in such line by shifting it in one direction or the other.
