LOCK.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PAUL Gi NTHER, a subject of the King of Prussia, residing at Berlin, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Locks, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is a lock in which the bolt, previously moved into the locking position by turning the key, is automatically drawn back so that the door can be opened by simply pressing down the latch.

The accompanying drawing shows one example of how this invention can be carried out.

Figure 1 shows the lock in locking position and Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation of the lock with the bolts in retracted position.

Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

To the extension 0 on the roll-back a of the latch retracting device I) a bar (Z is linked, which is hinged to the extension 6 of the tumbler f. The latter can lock the lock-bolt h by snapping with its notches over a pin on the lock-bolt as shown in Fig. 1.

g is a spring, which catches in a slot of the bolt h and has the tendency to move the same back in the direction of the arrow.

On the outside of the door is fixed an ordinary lock-plate and the lock can be operated by a key.

that I claim as my invention and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is In a lock the combination with the latchbolt having a shoulder, of the roll-back having an arm catching behind said shoulder, a dead bolt, which can be brought by two turns of the key into the locking position, a plurality of tumblers for locking said bolt, a second arm on the roll-back, a link connecting the latter arm with said tumblers whereby the tumblers may be operated by the operation of the roll-back to release the bolt and a spring tending normally to move the dead bolt back to the unlocked position, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
