The switch arm 1S is maintained in position 0n the spindle 19 by nuts 29 arranged on opposite sides thereof and bearing on the plates QT. A handle 30 and a pointer 31 are provided on the outer end of the spindle 1t), said pointer being i'novable over a dial 32, provided on the` plate 9, to inform the operator which line is being tested or measured.
In use, the branches of each of the several lines to be tested or measured are permanently connected, respectively, to the binding devices T of diametrically opposite 'contact-tern'iinals 6; and in testing or measuring a particular line, the current passes from one branch ol said line, through the contact-terminal (3 connected thereto. one pair of contacts 2l, 20, the arc-shaped terlninal 12, and one of the wires 1G to the voltmeter, and from the voltineter through the other wire 16, the are-shapctl terminal 13, the other pair ot contacts 20, 2l and the diametrically opposite contact terminal 6 to the opposite b 1anch of said line.
lllhat I claim, is
l. In combination with a support; a meter-switch comprising a dish-shaped base of insulation mounted on the lsupport and formed with a periphe 'al flange .spaced apart from the support, a series of contact,- terminals ar anged on the base and extending transversely through liront and rear faces of the flange, binding devices for connecting the contact-terminals to the respective lines, the binding devices being arranged on the tace ol the flange opposed te the support and extending substantially radially relatively to the base, terminals supported on the rear 'face of the base and designed to be connected, respectively, to the terminals ot' the meter, a switch-arm movable about an axis over the. rear tace of the base, contacts arranged on said arm in pairs near the endsI ot the arm, the pairs of contacts being insulated, and a connection between the contacts ot' each pair, one contact of each pair coacting with one of the second-mentioned terminals, and the other coacting successively with ,the firstanentioned terminals as the switch-arm is moved about its axis, substantially and for the purpose specified.
2. In a meter-switch, a base ot' insulation,
contact-terminals arranged on the/base in circular series and designed to be connected to the respective lines, a pair of arc-shaped terminals of substantially the same radius arranged opposite to each other on the rear face ot' the base and having their ends spaced apart, said terminals being designed to be connected, respectively, to the terminals ot' the meter, a switclearm movable about an axis over the rear face ot the base, contacts arranged on saidnarm in pairs, the pairs of contacts being insulated, and a connection between the contacts ot each pair, one Contact of each pair enacting with one ot' the arc-shapedterminals, and the other coacting successively with the first-inent-ioned terminals, substantiallyn as and lor the purpose set forth.
In a meter-switch, a base ot? insulation, contact-terminals arranged on the base in circular series and designed to be connected to the-respective lines, a pair ot' terminals supported on the base and designed to be connected, respectively, to the .terminals ot the meter, a spindle revolubic in the base and projecting rea'r\.ardly therel'rom, said spindle being formed with a longitudinal groove, a switch-arm mounted on the'spirulle and revoluble therewith, said arm comprisinga major part t'ormed o't insulation and having an opening i'or the spindle. and a plate arranged on one. side o'lz the major part and having an opening` t'or the spindle alined with the opening ot said major part, the plate havinga tongue mojeeting into the groove of the spindle l'or rigidly eonnecting the spindle and the switch-arn'l, contacts arranged on the ,switch-arm in pairs, the pairs ot contacts being insulated, and ay connection between the contacts of each pair, one contact ot' each pair coacting with one ot the secoml-mentioned terminals, and the othercoacting suceessivel)vwith the lirst-n'ientiolled terminals, substantially as and for the purpose setl l'orth.
