Description
B. L. WARNER. BABY JUMPER- Nb. 105,149. Patented July 5, 1870.
waited san patent can:
EGBERT L. WARNER, 0F OXFORD, CONNECTICUT.
Letters Patent No. 105,149, dated July 5, 1870.
The Schedule referred to in than Lotter- Pltont and making pm of the some.
To all whom it may concern Be iii-known that I, EG-BERT L, WARNER,'0f Oxford, in thecounty oi New Haven and State of Oonnecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Baby- Jumper; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings,
"and the letters of reference marked thereon,- to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent a front view V This invention'relates to an improvement in baby- 'jumpers, that is, an apparatus by which the infant is supported, so as to barely touch its feet to the floor, and with an elastic apparatus operating so that, by a slight action of the feet, the body is raised and lowcred, and kept in constant motion for the amusement of the child; and I The invention consists in the arrangement of a supporting device for the body of the child upon a ve1 1si cal spring combined with transverse springs, so that a double action is obtained. I
A is a device constructed so as to receive the child,
and allow the free play of its limbs, and is secured by.
suitable straps B B and cords O O, to a vertical spring, D, supported in any convenient position, so that the feet of the child may touch or rest upon the "floor.
Between the cords 0 O, and so as to extend the same, is arranged a rod, E, the cords O passing through slots in the said rod, and bearing against the springs a onithe rod, and the said rod supported by auxiliary rods, d, so as to allow free play 'of the cords 0 through the You.
, When the child is placed in the support A, so as-to draw down the support, the spring D yields, and also the springs a a on the rod, Goes to come into the po'-' sition' denoted in broken linesin the drawings, and the play up and down contracts and extends. both the springs a (1 and the'vertical spring D.
' As there mustbe some limit to the extent-to which thespring D may bedrawn or extended, I arrange an adjustable strap, F, so as to arrest the downward movement of the spring atan'y desired point, and the springs'a a prevent the jerk which would otherwise occur when the spring D had been drawn toits fullest extent and stopped; the springs ac being compressed yield sntficiently, after the spring Dhas been stopped, to prevent any inconvenient efi'ects from the sudden stoppage of 'theaction of the spring D.
. I claim as my invention- The baby-j umpsr herein described, consisting of the support A, cords ,C 0, vertical spring I), with its adjusting strap F, and the rod E, \vlth' the auxiliary springs a a, operating in themanner specified.
EGBERT L. WARNER,
Witnesses:
JOHN H. Snmrwsv, A. J. Tmm'rs.
