Be it known that l, Summon W. BoNsALL,
a citizen of the United States, residing at -Rye, in the county of lVcstchcster and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful :lil'lpIOYQlHODlS in Rotary Driers; and Il do hereby declare the follo-ivingto be a full, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art .to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The'preseut invention has for its object the provision of cilicient. means whereby various materials may be quickly dried, and.
particularly to means especially suited to the drying of lumber in various forms.
The invention an improvement upon the general type of device set forth in my alpplicat-iou for United Sitates Patent. for improvement in driers, filed November 17th, 1911., Serial No. 660,819.
In a preferred embodiment the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings. wherein Figure 1 shows a vertical sectional view of the device With boards in place onthe right side. Fig. 2 is a plan of the some. viewed from above after removal of the top oil the machine. and 3 as detailed sectional view making, clear the m ans for conveying and removing steam.
The particular form, shape and propor tions shown in the drawings are not essential end are shown iherely by Way of illustration. It is also to be understood that it is not. essential to my invention to employ steam or other heating means.
Upon a base 10 the principal chamber is mounted upon suitable rollers 12 or other non-frictional supports. The chamber is provided with a floor 13 andwalls 14: and, in the particular -form shown is separated into two similar halves by a cross par tition whose ends form scoopsin both horizontal direotions,,which scoops extend beyond the'liniits of the chamber.
'The preferred construction shown in-' volves two suitable bent partitions 15 and 16 placed, back to'back and giving room for the introduction oi the steam pipes herein.- a'tter described. By opening the door 18 to a greater extent. than the door 17, the air Within may be compressed. to such an extent, Within limits, as may be desired. and this operation will be found useful in the drying" of lumber and of other articles wherein the moisture is more or less deeply seated.
