Description
i fA-LM'YR'A, WISCONSIN".
Letters Patent No. 104,698, dated June 28, 187D,
IMPrgovEMeN-r nv BAG-HOLDERS.
Thev Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent making part of the same,l
To all 'whom 'it may concern:
- B e it known that I, EDWIN BoYN'romoi Palmyra, `in the county of Jefferson and State of Wiscorisin,
have invented anew and improved Bag-Holder; and
-I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, 4and 1exact description thereof,` which willv enable others skilled in the artto which my invention apper- 'tains `to make aud use the same, reference being had feto the accompanying ldrawing forming part of this specification. y l V `11`ignres 1 and 2 are elevations of my improved bagl t holder, showing, respectively, differentv sides of the y same;` e, e
i l Figure 3'is a bottom-plan view of the hopper; and,
i l Figure-4 is aisidenelevationof the adjust-able legs,
detached from the hopper. o y
l Similar letters lo f` reference indicate vvcorresponding parts in the several figures' of the drawing.
i t AMy invention hasforits object to provide an Yim`` C proved portable device for holdingbags While the latter are being lled with grain;` and, to this end,
i vIt consistsin a hopper, to' the under side Vof which -the ,bags are vattached VWhile beingilled, provided with :two sets of removable legs, one ,set'being hinged near their: upper ends'to'admitlof the vertical, adjustment of the hopper for `the accommodation' of vbags of different lengths@V 'l l Y 'Inthe accompanying drawing- V g A is'the hopper, of quadrangular form,` andwith an opening in its center of a size to correspond with the :mouth of a grain-bag.` i
'lhe hopper' is providedwithv two .sets of supports, each set vbeing formed of two legs crossing each other, and pivpted `together attheirpoints of intersection The legsofthe set B are `bent over at their upper ends, and the beutLportions areadaptedto enter or slide into loopsv or hopper, as shown in `figs; 1.1 and 2:. (l 'Ehe legs of the set D are hinged; near their upper strapsfO, affixed to the side of the,
ends, and the shorter portions, E, shown in fig. 4, are adapted to enter straps or loops O, affixed to that side of the hopper opposite to the loops of thelegs B.
By means of the hinges the set of legs l) moved vnearer to or farther from a vertical line for raising or 'lowering the hopper to accommodate bags of different lengths.
l Both sets of legs are pointed atwtheir lower ends tov prevent thehoppenfromrslipping upon a floor.
' The bag F to be lled with grain is placed under the discharge-opening ofthe hopper, .with its lower.
end in contact with the ground 'or oorand is held in place by being hooked Vover the catches G, allixedA to the lower edge ofthe hopper, as shown in fig. 3.
` lhe grain is poured into the hopper andflows through the sameinto the bag, as will be readily understood, v f and, when the bag has been lled, it is unhooked from the catches and removed. i -v To facilitate the u nhooking of the bag, the hinged legs D may bemoved outward'to lower the hopper slightly, and thus free' the ,bag` from the catches. p
By means of the loops() the legs B D can' be easily removed from the hopper to permit the packing ofthe whole device Within aA comparatively small compass for transportation. v
'My improved bagfholder and hopper is simple in construction, and adapted for use either inthe eld or inthe warehouse.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claimas new, anddesire to secure'by Letters Patent, is y 1 The portable bag-holder, constructed. as described,
4lof' 'the hopper A, removable legs B, and removable adjustable vlegs D, substantially as herein described, forthe purpose specified.
Witnesses: 4. G. H.,F Rosr, y
