Y Zhany i' s zen of the United States, -residing at Rapid City, in the county. of Pennington ,and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and useful Portable Clothes-Receptacle, of which the following is a specification. l

lThe invention relates' to a portable clothes receptacle.`

The object `of the present invention'is to tacles, and to provide a simple and comparatively inexpensive portable clothes receptacle, designed primarily ,for use in laundry workto enable clothes to be handled with greaterfeasethanjlieretofore, and adapted'to be arranged in convenientposition to receive the -wet'clothes from a wringer, and capable of enabling s'uch'wet clothes to be quickly transferred to a clothesline or other clothes hanging means and fof supporting a clothes pinv or receptacle within easy reach, so that the clothes may, be removed from the receptacle and hung onv a line with greater ease and without any unnecessary walking.

A further object ofthe invention is to provide. a portable clothes receptacle of this character, adapted to enable ,clothes to be readily gathered from a line,fand capable also of ,being arrangedk adjacent to an ironother. fabrics as they are ironed.

invention, the portable clot-hes receptacle comprises in its construction a wheeled carrier having a supporting frame upon which a clothes basket 1 or other receptacley is mounted, composed of upper and

2 and 8, constructed of flat bar metal, o-r other suitable material and connected by front and rear axles 4 and upper transverse front and rear supporting bars 5,. The lower side b-ars 3 are arranged in parallelism, and the metal of which they are constructed is curved upwardly and inwardly to form integral front and rear approximately U-shaped spring bends 6, and .is extended vertically f from the upper sides of the spring bends to provide front and rear vertical standards'7. The lower side bars, the vertical standards and the connecting bends of each side of the frame, are constructed of a single continu ous pieceof metal, and the terminals of the same at the upper ends 8 of the vertical standards are bent horizontally at right an-` gles and are extended inwardly along the lower faces of the upper side bars 2, -and they are secured to the latter by

9 and 10. The -bolts 9 pierce the horizontal terminals 8 and the side bars 2, and the other vbolts 10 also extend through the terminals of the transverse supporting bars 5, and secure the latter to the sides of the frame.

The end clamping members extend upwardly and outwardly at an inclination, and are de-f signed in practice to be arrangedfso asI to exert a spring clamping action on thelends of the clothes basket, which fits within the inclined U-shaped portions vof the clamping members. By this construction, the clothes basket is clamped on the'supporting frame and is securely held against longitudinal and lateral movement, so that there is no danger of the clothes basket becoming accidentally displaced. i v

The upper side bars 2 are 'extended upwardly at the rear end of thev supporting frame to form inclined portions or arms 23, which are connected by a transverse handle bar 24. The inclined arms 23 vare provided at their lower portions with quarter bends 25, which arrange the metal flatwise tothe ends of the handle bar 24, and which also cause the 'inclined arms to present flat side/ upwardly extending .arms .23 are supported by inclined braces 26, secured by bolts 21 lof the .rear clips 20. The handle embraces the vhandlegbar 24for securingthe hook to-the same. The lower portion of the hook'29 is located beneath and in rear of the handle l'ba-r and is in convenient position tol receive the bail 30 of a bucket 31, or other suitable Kreceptacle for clothes pins to enable the,same to becarried'to and from a clothes linef" l The supporting frame is made high enoughto hold the clothes basket under a wringen- 32 in position vto receive the wet clothe'safte'r "the-same have passed through thewringer, thereby obviating the necessity o'f' catching the clothesby hand and placing them ina basket, or other receptacle in order to! prevent themfrom lgoing'down the side of 'a"tubfand'onto the floor, or other sup portingsurfacawhich is often the case when a basket is placedfupon the floor for this purpose.' fAfter'the clothes'have passed through the wringer and the `basket is full of wet heavy'ffabrics, the latter may be wheeled out tof'the clothes line, thereby relieving a tired woman, or lother person of this laborious part of laundry work. As the clothes pins are held in convenient reach, the clothes may be hung upon a line without the person taking an unnecessary step, the portable clothes receptacle being wheeled along the line as the clothes are hung thereon. The device is equally advantageous in taking the clothes in from a line, as the clothes may be placed in the basket as they are removed from the line and thel `clothes pins placed in the receptacle suspended from the handle. It

`obviates the necessity of gathering a few clothes and a handful of clothes pins and running back and forth from a clothes basket, as the portable clothes receptacle may be pushed along the line and is always within reach of the persony removing the clothes. The portable clothes receptacle will also be found of great convenience in handling the clothes and other fabrics as the same are ironed, as the device may be placed adj aceni to an ironing board in position to receive the ironed pieces. The portable clothes receptacle is adapted vforcollecting and delivering the wash, and will enable a child to easily do this without labor; l"When the clothes basket is removed, the carrier is adapted t( receive a box and maybe used as a hanc cart around the. house 'to 'bring in vegetables from the garden, or for'carting wood anc' analogous purposes.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A device of the class described including a supporting frame comprising upper and lower side bars, front and rear standards connected with the upper and lower side bars, and transverse supporting bars connecting the upper side bars and having depending bends extending downwardly from the upper side bars to form a depressed seat for a receptacle, means for retaining a receptacle on the supporting bars, axles supporting the frame, and wheels mounted on the axles.

2. A device of the class described comprising a wheeled frame including spaced side bars, and transverse supporting bars connecting the side bars, and end clamping members extending upwardly from the side bars of the wheeled frame and across the same and forming loops for embracing the ends of a clothes basket or other receptacle to retain the same on the supporting bars.

3. A device of the class described comprising a wheeled frame including spaced side bars and transverse supporting bars connecting the side bars and extended downwardly therefrom to form a depressed seat for a receptacle, and end clamping members mounted on the cross bars and arranged to embrace and engage the ends of the receptacle and retain the same on the said seat.

4. A device of the class described comprising a supporting frame provided with a seat adapted to receive a removable receptacle, and resilient end clamping members of approximately U-shape extending across the frame and projecting upwardly therefrom and arranged to engage and embrace the ends of a receptacle to retain the same on the said seat.

5. A device of the class described including a supporting frame provided with a seat adapted to receive a removable receptacle, and resilient end clamping members projecting upwardly from and extending across the frame and having terminal portions located at opposite sides of the said frame, and means for securing the terminals of the clamping members to the frame, said means permitting an adjustment of the terminals the clamping members to the side bars of the frame.

7 A device of the class described including a wheeled frame comprising upper and lower side bars, the upper side bars being extended to form inclined arms, transverse supporting bars connecting the upper side bars and having depressed portions forming a seat between the side bars, and a handle bar connecting the arms, axles secured to the lower side bars,wheels mounted on the axles, and approximately U-shaped clamping members mounted upon the upper side bars at the ends of the frame and arranged to em-` brace the ends of a clothes basket or other receptacle to retain the Same on the said seat. 8. A device of the class described includ ing a supporting frame comprising upper and lower horizontal side bars, front and rear standards supporting the upper side bars and provided at their lower ends with spring bends connecting the standards with the lower side bars, front and rear axles connecting the lower side bars, transverse supporting bars connecting the upper side bars and forming a seat for a receptacle, and end clamping members extending upwardly from the upper side bars of the supporting frame and across the latter and arranged to embrace and engage a receptacle to retain the same on the said seat. l
