Ystad, in Sweden, and Enws'r HJALMAR VALLGREN, wholesale merchant, of Copenhagen, in Denmark, both subjects of the Kingdom 09 Sweden, residing at Sladdergatan 3S9, Ystad, Sweden, and Osterbrogade 41, 'Copcnhagen, Denmark, respec" tively, have invented new and useful Improvements in Looking Devices for Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
The inv-.=:ition relates to an air-tight locking-device for receivers, boxes, tins or the like of sheet-metal or other materials intended for the saving of substances, which may be damaged or changed when exposed to the influence of the air, as for instance, vituals, tobacco, volatile liquids or the like.
The invention has for its object to provide such a locking-device, that the receiver may be easily opened and again closed by means of a single movement and without necessity of using tools and at the same time without damaging any part of receiver or cover.
The invention is shown in the drawing, where Figure l is an elevation of'a boxprovided with the locking device, Fig. 2 a plan of the same, Fig, 3 a vertical section of a part of the locking device on an enlarged scale and Fig. i the cover partly in section.
To the upper edge of the box wall 1 is by means of soldering or the like secured a ringshaped plate 2, which is horizontal and at its inner edge is formed with a flange 3. In saidfiange 3 is secured a metal ring 4, the inner side of which is provided with threads for screwing in the cover plate 7, which has its edge bent upward and out ward in such a manner, that a flange 8 of nearly the same height as the flange is formed. In the flange 8 is secured a metal ring 9 provided with threads at its outer side, so that the cover 7 may he screwed in the ring 4 and thereby the receiver be closed. The cover plate has such a diameter that it extends beyond both the rings and somewhat over the ring-shaped plate 2 5%),bcsides which the edge of said cover plate is stiffened by means of channel formed bends.
If desired a packing 6 may be placed between the edge 5 and the bend 10 of the cover plate 7, the outer edge 11 of which moreover presses close to the top of the ring-shaped plate 2, when the cover plate is screwed. in.
Beneath and above the threads the rings 4 and 9 are provided with cylindrical guides, which facilitate the screwing in of the cover plate 7. To further facilitate the screwing in and out of said cover plate it is provided with a movable handle 12 of a convenient form.
Having now described ourinvention what we claim is:
1. A locking device for receivers, boxes, tins and the like, consisting of two rings that may be screwed in each other and of which one is secured to the receiver forming its aperture, a cover plate secured to the other ring and extending above the ring secured to the receiver, the last mentioned ring being provided on its top with a projecting edge against which the ,cover plate presses when the latter is fully screwed in.
2. A locking device for receivers, boxes, tins or the like, consisting of two rings that may be screwed in eachother and or which one is secured to the receiver forming its aperture, a cover plate secured to the other ring and extending above the ring secured to the receiver, the last mentioned ring having a projecting edge on top against which the cover plate presses when the. latter is screwed in, and. a packing material between said projection and said cover plate.
