The flexible line conductor 6, is detachably electrically connected at one end with said telephone set 4, at the pilot house, and, at its opposite end with the terminal 7, carried by the hawser 8. As indicated, in Fig. II, said terminal 7, is securely clam ed upon theend of the hawser 8, by the bo ts 49., and is electrically connected with the end of. the line conductor 10, which4 extends 'through said hawser-to theterminal 14, at the oppo site end thereof, which.` is similar to the terminal 7, above described. Said conductor 10, is preferably s irally laid in said 'hawser so as to be capa leof extension under the strain'to which xthehawser is .subjected, and without 'disturbing its electrical connection with said terminals 7 and 14.

The combination with a hawser connecting two relatively movable marine vesL sels and limiting the range of their relative movement; of-'a telephone conductor extending spirally in said hawser; electric terminals vcarried by said hawser, comprising connecting means forsaid conductor; and, telephone sets respectively supported by sald marine vessels and detachably connected with said terminals.

The combination with a havvser; of a telephone conductor extending in said hawser; electric terminals carried by said havv-v ser comprising connecting means for said conductor; and, `telephone sets respectively detachably connected with said terminals; whereby limited relative movement of said sets, and limited extension and contraction of said havvser is permitted Without breaking the telephone circuit.
7. The combination with a hawser; of an electric conductor extending spirally in said Vhavvser; and, electric terminals carried by said hawser comprising connecting means for said conductor; whereby limited extenslon and contractlon of said hawser is permitted without breaking the electric circuit.
[SEAL] 8. The combination with telephoneY sets respectively supported by relatively movable marine vessels; of a hawser connecting said vessels, limiting their relative movement, and, means extending in said hawser, electrically connecting said sets in operative relation.

The combination with telephone sets respectively supported by relatively movable marine vessels; of a hawser mechanically connecting said vessels, limiting theirrelative movement; an electric conductorl permanently secured to and carried by said hawser; and, terminalspermanently secured to and carried by said hawser, at the respectively opposite ends thereof, permanently electrically connected with the respectlvely opposite ends o said conductor and havlngmeans arranged to detachably electrically connect said conductor with the respective telephone sets; whereb said permanently united havvser and con uctor form a single iiexible mechanical and electrical connector, Vwhich may be readily detached, attached, and coiled like an ordinary hawser. r
