Toallwlmnitmyconcemr Be it known that I, SAMUEL W. Hons'r, a' citizen of the United States, residing at State of Pennsylvania, have inventedv a new and useful Combined Weather-Strip and Sash Look, of which the following is a specification.
The presentinvention relates to improvements in a combined weather strip and sash lock for windowsashes, and the primary object of the resent invention is the provision of a novel orm of weather strip disposed to be carried-by the meeting rails of the two sashes of a window and co-act to interlock when the sashes are in closed' position to tion, thesaid co-act-ing devices being further provided with'means disposed to be engaged by a lock carried by one or the other of the window sashes to wed e the co-act-ing members into locking position and thus more securely fasten the sashes'together and tighten the joints between such co-acting members to prevent the admission of dust or air when the sashes are closed.
A further object of the presentinvention is the provision of a weather strip for the, meeting rails of window sashes, constituting a strip of sheet metal disposed upon'the ad j acent faces of each of the meeting rails of the sash, one being provided with an upper flange while the other is provided; with" a lower flange, said stri and flanges being the full width of the Wll'ldOW sashes, so that when the meeting rails of the sashes are in alined position such metal strips will co-act or interlock to provide a dust and air'proof joint at the meeting rails the full width of the window. The outer face ofthe upper meeting rail 4 of the lower sash 2 as clearly shown in Fig.
4 is provided with the groovedportion 5 in its-lower corner and-has disposed upon the outer face thereof, .the metal weather strip or plate 6 which is of the full width of the window sash and is so fitted as to have its upper flanged end 7 disposed above the meetingrail 4 and toward' the meeting rail 12 of the upper sash. An aperture or slot 8. is formed in the body of the weather strip 6 above and in line with the upper face of the meeting rail 4 of the'sash 2 while the flangev 7 is provided with the peculiarly shaped receptacle asat 9 the purpose of which will later appear. The lower-edge 10 of the Weatherstrip 6 is. inturned as shown in Fig.
4 and terminates slightly below, the recessed 1 portion 5 and above the lower face of the meeting rail 12 of the sash 3. Mounted upon the adjacent face of the lower meeting rail 12 of the sash 8, and the rail 4 that carries the weather strip,.is the metal weather strip 1 3 whose hooked flange 14, which is constructed similar to the flange 7 of the strip 6,
is disposedin opposite direction so that the 110 hooked terminal 15 thereof when the sashes are in the position as shown in Fig. 4 will fit within the recess 5 of the meeting rail 4 and form a receptacle for the inturned ends of the plate 6. The upper end 16 of the plate or weather strip 13 is projected above the upper face of themeeting rail 12 of the sash 3 and fits within the flange 8. By this means it will be seen that the raising and lowerin of the respective sashes or the moving of t e respectivemeetmg rails 4 and 12 toward and fromieach other, will bring the tions 7 and 14 are so disposed as to receive the respective ends .10 and 16, the abutting faces of the respective weather strips 6 and 13 will be held snugl together and thus provide a means where y dust or air cannot pass between the adjacent faces of the meet ing rails of the two sashes, when the same are in interlocking position. What is claimed is: 1. A weather strip and sash fastener having two members disposed respectively upon the meeting edges oftwo sashes and the full width of the sashes, said members having coacting interlocking portions, and means for forcibly engaging both members when in interlocking position to lock said members together.
2; A weather strip and sash fastener, having two members disposed respectively upon the meeting edges oftwo sashes the full width thereof, said members each having co-acting interlocking portions, and a cam lock carried by one sash for engagin both members to move them into locked re ation.

The combination with two sashes, of.a weather strip and fastener therefor, having a strip connected to the meeting ed es of each sash and having a portion pro ecting above the rail of the sash to which it is attached, each of said strips being provided with a flange, said strips coacting when the sashes are closed to incase one another, and means for engaging both strips to clamp them together. respective strips 6 and 13 .mto and out of interlocking position, and as the flanged por-' 4. The combination with two sashes, of a weather strip and fastener therefor, having a'strip connected to the meeting edges of each sash and having a portion projecting above the rail of the sash to which it is attached, each of said strips being provided with a flange, said strips co-acting when the sashes are closed to incase one another, and a cam lock carried by one sash for engaging both strips to clamp the strips together.
5. The combination with two sashes, of a weather strip and fastener therefor, having a strip connected to the meeting edges of each sash and having a portion projecting above the rail of the sash to which it is attached, each of said strips being provided with a flange, said strips co-acting when the sashes are closed to incase one another, both of said strips being provided with centrally disposed elongated slots disposed to register when in co-acting relation, and means carried by one of the sashes and disposed to enter the slots to lock said strips in clamped relation. a
6. The combination with two sashes, of a weather strip and fastener therefor, having a strip connected to the meeting edges of each sash and having a portion projecting above the rail of the sash to which it is attached, each of said strips being provided with a flange, said strips co-acting when the sashes are closed to inease one another, both of said strips being provided with centrally disposed elongated slots disposed to register when in coacting relation, and a cam lock carried by one of the sashes and disposed for movement into and out of said slots when in registration to lock the strips together.
