Be it known that I, GEORGE O. CORNELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new longitudinal and transverse slits 8. This closure flap 6 is quite narrow in comparison to the flap 5 as will be seen from reference to Fig. l of the drawing and the latter flap at its free edge laps upon the flap 6 when and useful lmprovements in BoX-Fasteners, said flaps are folded inwardly. It will thus be seen that when the tabs are in their looking positions the Shoulders 10 thereon are disposed beyond one end of the slits 7 thus preventing any relatlve transverse movementof the flaps 5 and 6 which would tend to separate the same. As an additional means of security, I provide the end flaps 12 which are adapted to be folded inwardly upon the end portions of the side flaps 5 and 6. As previously stated the iap 6 is provided at its ends with the intersecting slits 8 and adjacent to the attached edge of. the flap 5 the same is provided with the transverse slits 13. The looking tongues 9 on the free edge of the flap 5 which are disposed nearest the ends of said flap are also provided with the transverse slits 14. Upon the edges of the end flaps 12 and adjacent to' their ends the tongues 15 are formed and these tongues are adapted to be inserted mgs.

This invention relates to mprovements in bo); fasteners and more particularly to a fastener which is particularly designed for use in connection with folders, cartons or other Japer containers and has for its primary object the provision of means whereby the container maybe quickly and securely closed. Another object of the invention is to provide a paper receptacle or container having one or more closure fiaps, said flaps being provided with interlocking means whereby their separation an the opening of the container is effectually prevented.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention. consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of a paper receptacle or container illustrating my improved fastener; Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 2,2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a detail fragmentary perspective view of one corner of the container; Fig. 4 is a detail fragmentary plan view of one of the side fiaps; an Fig. 5 is a view of a slightly modified form of the invention illustrating a folder blank provided with my improve fas'tener.

This latter flap is provided with a slit 7' to receive the locking tab 9' formed on the end of the flap 18 which is adanted to be folded upon the 20 flap 19. The flap 18 is also provided with spaced slits 13' to receive the tonguesl' wiich are cut out of the flapt 19. After the looking tab 9' has been inserted through the slits 7', the tongues 15 are then disposed through the slits 13' to coinplete the closure of the folder.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and operation o my invention will be fully understood.
