In eyeglasses, the combination with a support and a 4guard arranged to turn on one side thereof, of a pivoting member for the guard comprising a sleeve extending through the support and cooperating with and a headed fastener extending axially within `the. sleeve and having its headedportion bearing against the support on the opposite side from the guard. l

In-eyeglasses, the combinationA with a support embodying two members arranged in spaced 'relation to form the opposite Walls of a pocket, of a nose guard arranged to swing on the exterior of the pocket, a pivoting member for the guard extending through the pocket transversely of the said detachable therefrom, a positioning spring for the guard housed within the pocket anda removable fastener' extending axially into the pivoting member and having a headed portion bearing on one side of the pocket to normally prevent with drawal of the pivoting' member from the opposite side.

In eyeglasses, the combination with a support embodying two members arranged in spaced relation to form the opposite walls of a pocket, of a nose Aguard arranged to swing on the exterior ofthepoeket, a pivoting member therefor carried thereby and embodying' a rigidly connected 'sleeve eX- tending through the pocket transversely of the said walls and removable With the guard, a positioning spring for the guard Within the pocket coiled about the sleeve, and a removable fastener extending axially into the' pivoting member 4and having a headed portion engaging the end of the -sleeve and bearing on one side of the pocket to normally prevent Withdrawal of the pivoting member from the opposite side.

In eyeglasses, the combination with a support embodying two members arranged in spaced relation, of a nose guard arranged to swing on the outer side of one of them, a pivoting member spanning the space between them and supported byv them, a spring coiled about the pivoting member between. the supporting members, one end thereof being connected to act upon the guard and position the same and a plurality of abutments. Withv which the other end of the spring may be selectively engaged to alterl the tension formed by indentations at the edge of one of the supporting members.

8. In an eyeglass' mounting, the combination- With a support and a finger piece guard lever mounted to'turn thereon, one of said parts being provided with a plurality of openings forming spaced abutments, of a coil spring for positioning the guard having its ends connected tothe latter and the supportr respectively, one suchend being pron vided with an engaging portion extending longitudinally 'of the axis of the coilI andl adapted to be engaged selectively with the several openings to vary the tension of the spring. y

9. In an eyeglass mount-ing, the combination with .s a support and aA lguard lever mounted to turn on one side thereof, of a laterally projecting elongated bearing mem ber on the guard lever, a coil spring for positioning the latter mountedupon and surrounding the bearing member and a bearing on the support coperating with that on the lever at both ends of the spring coil.

10. In an eyeglass mounting, the combination with a support and a guard lever mounted to turn on onev side thereof, of a laterally projecting elongated bearing member xed to the guard lever, a coil spring forpositioning the guard surrounding the bearing member and a detachable securing device cooperating with the free end ofthe. latterand with the support for holding the guard lever on the support.

11. In an eyeglass mounting, the combination With a support and a guard lever mounted to turn on one side thereof, of a laterally projecting elongated bearing member fixed to Vthe guard lever, a coil spring for positioning the guard surrounding the bearing member and a detachablesecuring device coperatin with the support and embodying a shou der coperating with the end of the bearing member for holding the guard lever on' the support. i
