Be it known that I, KARL Vinim-zn, en- ;gineer, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at 17 Jiilieherstrasse. Dusseldorf,
(1erinany, have invented certain new and I iiseful linproi'enients Relating to Automatieally-Operating Keys for Setting the Timing-Rings of Fuses for Shells or the Like; and I do hereby declare the following" to he invention, SIKll will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the some.
The present invention relates to operating keys for setting the timingrings of fuses tor shells or the like of the hind having two relai irely movable parts, whieh parts are set with certainty upon the desired division of a scale earried by one of the parts by the autinnatio engagement of a bolt with a corresponding rack.
In known construrtions of this kind the arrangementof the holt has heen such that when the timing ring is being set an unintentional pressure of the finger or a shock might cause the bolt to heeome disengaged from the rack and thus render the setting of the timing ring inaccurate.
The presentinvention has for its object the provision of means for obviating this clisatlvantage, the bolt being so arranged that when the timing ring hein; set the bolt will be prevented from moving from its locked position.
The invention will be hereinafter fully setforth and particular]; pointed out in the claims. In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a longitudinal SBCLlOll through the key on line 1-l, Fig. 2. I claim my invention:
1. 3. In an automatically operating key for setting time fuses on shells or the like, the
combination of two relatively movable parts, one of which is designed to engage a movable member of the fuse, a bolt on one of the contiguous faces of one of the relatively movable parts, a rack on the other relatively movable part, and means for holding the bolt in engagement with the rack.
4. In an automatically operating key for setting time fuses on shells or the like, the
combination of two relatively movable parts one of which is designed to engage a movable member of the fuse, ahandle on one of such parts, rack on the other of said parts, such rack surrounding the part having thehanclle, a radially movable bolt within the latter part, find means for holding the bolt in engagement with the rack.
