' Application filed May 11,
To all l07m/m. 'it may concern Be it ltnoivn that I, hnuenN D. llllm'r, a citizen ot' the4 United States, residing` at Haines City, in the county et Polk and State of Florida, have invented a neit and useful lllavedvlotor, o't which the follow- 4 ,ing is a specieation.
rlhis 'invention relates to wave motors, one ot its objects being to provide a novel forni ot float adapted toybe raised and lowered by wave power actuating a pump, combined therewith.
Another object is to provide means Where by the oat is tree to swing in a circlen'ithout interfering with the action of the pump and whereby the lioat is held iii-propel.` positionV relative to thcwind so as thus to obtain the greatest lieneiit troni. the Wave motion.
lllith the :toregoing and other obiects in view whicn .vill appear. the description proceeds, the invention resides inthe conibination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that clningesv in the precise embodiment of thc invention herein disclosed, can be iliade 'within the scope ot what is claimed, Without departing 'from the spirit ot the invention.
ln the accompanying drawings the prc- ,terred' torni ot the invention has been shown.
In said draWin-gst--ligu're l is a view partly in side elevation and partly in section -ot the complete motor. Fig. Q is a plan view.
IReferring to the gures by characters of reference l designates a 'traine of any suitable construction which may be submerged in or supported above a body ot Water. this traine suppo rting an opstanding tubular bearing member 2 having 'a sleeve 3 mounted tor rotation thereon. As shown in Fig. S2 this sleeve muy be split and provided with outstanding cars vel bolted or otherwise secured'twetheri Anti-friction devices 5 are interpc, l between the sleeve and th bearing 2 and also between the lower end of said sleeve and the base flange tl ci the bearing so as to thus permit the sleeve to vrotate freely on the bearing. At retainingy collar 7 is fastened to the upper portion of the bearingr in any suitable manner and serves #to hold thesleeve against vertical displace- 3 'and are dis osed in arallel lanes these y P P P l Sneccatlon of Letters atent.'

Wings projecting between arms S) located at one end ot a. fan-shaped float It) termed ot any suitable material and movided preterably along its longitudinal center with an upstanding tin ll. A cross rod l2 connects the arms 9 and adapted to worlt between stop shoulders l2?) toi-medy by the ends of the Wings 8 and stop projections 14 formed at the upper ends of arcuate arms l5 up- 'standing from the Wings.A rlhus it wid be seen that the float .has a limited up and dovvn swinging movement.
A central rib 16 isarranged between the arms 9 and extends under the tin 1l and constitutes a part ot the float. This rib is pivotally mounted on the rod 17 which oon-A stitutes the connection between Wings S and arms 9 and said rib merges into a pump arm 18 which overhangs thei'tubular bearing Q and is pivotally engaged by the upper end oit a pitnian '19. iksshown in the drawings this pitman is preferably formed of two sections connected hin-ether` by a swivell 20. Vlhe pitinan is connected tothe rod 21 ot a valved piston Qhsaid piston being mounted to reciprocate in a pump cylinder 23 supported by the trame l. A. suction pipe Q4: opens into this cylinder and is provided with a. suitable check valve 25 and any suitable arrangement ot vout-let pipe Q6 is cylinder.
lt is to be understoodthatthe lloat 10 normally extends along an inclined plane into the body of Water so :is to be partly submerged, the tin 11 opstanding from the ,float so as to be shifted'by the Wind in order to bring the loat into its most effective position. As the Waves move under the tica-t it ivill be raised and lowered and thus cause the pitnian 19 to reciprocate piston 22 which will, therefore, operate to elevate lWater drawn through. the pipe. Q4. Should the located preferably atthe upper end ot thel y 2. Apparatus of the class described in- L cluding a float adapted to oscillate up- Wardly and downwardly and to move about a substantially vertical pivot, and means ,uponthe float and actuatedby the Wind for cluamg an upstanding bearing, a normally the bearing,
incli ed float mounted for vertical oscillation and mounted to travel in a circleabout and a lin upstanding from the oat." t
4. Apparatus of the class described .including an upstanding bearing, a normally inclined float mounted for vertical oscillation and adapted to move in a circle about said bearing, means for limitingthe vertical oscillation of the fioat, and a tin supponted by the float and maintained therebyl above the surfacefof the Water on which the float is mounted.
5. Apparatuaof the class describedin-v cluding an upstanding bearing, a normally inclined float mounted for vertical oscillation and adapted to travel in-a circle aboutv the bearing, a pump, and a swivel connection between the pump and the float.
6. Apparatus of the class described inclucling an upstanding bearing, a normally inclined float mounted for Avertical oscillation and adapted to travel in a circle about asimy own, I have hereto aixed the bearing, a pump, and a pitman connection between the float 'and pump, said connection including a swivel.
7. Apparatus of the class described including an upstanding bearing, a float mounted for vertical oscillation and adapted to travel in a circle about the bearing, and a -n upon the float.
8. Apparatus of the class described including an upstanding bearing, a float mounted for vertical oscillation and adapted tc-travel in acircleabout the bearing, a fin upon the float and normally supported thereby above the surface of the Water suptlie vertical oscillation of the float.
9. Apparatus of the class described including anv upstanding bearing, a float mounted for vertical oscillation and adapted totravel in av circle about the bearing, a fin .porting the float, and means for limitingupstanding from the oat, an arm ixedlv V pump including il connection between said connection 1nconnected to the tioat, a piston rod, and a pitman said'rod and the arm, cluding a swivel;
