Bc it knownthat I, WnmIAM H. NEW- I naoimri, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Lansing, county of Ingham, and State of Michi an, have invented certain new and useful mpro'vements in Multiple-Cylinder Pumps, of which the: following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in multiple cylinder pumps.
My improvements are especially desi ed; by me for use in spraying machines w ere: a light, compact pump isdesired, and atf the same time one capable of sustainingi high, uniform pressures, although it is deff; sirable for use in various relations.
The main objects f thisI invention aren' first, to provide an improved multiple cylin der pum which is verycompact and one in; which t ie working parts are eectively= balanced. Second, to provide an improved multiple cylinder purnpwhich is simple and economica in structure and well adapted4 for hi h pressure service.
Furt er objects, and objects relating to' structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed descriptionto fo low.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.

A yoke-like pedestal 3 is mounted centrally on this base, the uiper end ',of the pedestal being` bifurcate as shown. The pump body is mounted on the base beneath the pedestal, the body being provided with a cylinder for each cylinder?, an inlet conduit 5 and discharge "conduits 6.

The delivery pipe 14 is connected to both of the discharge conduits.
The details of the valves illustrated not being a part of this invention, are not described herein.
The fpistons 15 are hollow to receive the ends o the piston rods 16, which are connected by the pins 17 to the coupling members 18 which are bolted to the inner ends o f the pistons. See Fig. V. To provide a simple and effective cyinder structure, the cylinders are provided with internal annular recesses 19. at their outer ends adapted to receive the packings 20 and the packing landsy 2,1." The driving shaft 25 is arranged between the-crank shafts. The bearings 2G and 27 for the driving andy-crank shafts are mounted on the members or forks of the bifurcated pedestal. On each crank shaft is a gear 2S, while the driven shaft is provided .with a gear 29 mesliin with both of the gears 28. The shaftis urther supported bythe pedestal 30 mounted on one of the side members of thebase l.: TheV cranks of each crank shaft are disposed'oppositely so that the-pum s of each pair. are alternately actuated. Tile driving connections for the two crank shafts are arranged 5 so that the cranks of one pair of pum'ps'are in their operative relation, at an` angle o 90 to those of the other pair. ,This secures a successive work 0st-roke for all of the pumps.
