To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, QLnNno TROMSNESS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the count of Hennepin andbeing instantly dissolved by the composition and the swab serving to remove the deposit in the usual manner. My composition is particularly useful for cleaning large and small gun barrels and in practice has been found very desirable to use on military rifle ranges. This composition in addition to acting as a good powder solvent also acts as a rust preventive'and a lubricant when applied to the metal parts of a gun barrel and also makes a good polish for gun stocks.
I am aware of patents upon compositions which are adapted for use in removing varnish granted to James Miller on April 7,

No. il-28,486 and to Toms on May 28, 1867 No. 64,139 which are adapted for use as washing compounds. these patents however are not adapted to dissolve gunpowder and I do not claim as my invention such combinations broadly.
I claim:
1. The herein-described composition of matter adapted for dissolving gun powder in gun barrels, consisting of acetone, amyl acetate, turpentine and sperm oil, substantially as described and for the purpose specified.
2. The herein-described composition of matter for cleaning the barrels o1 rifles and guns, consisting 0t acetone one sixth part,
amyl acetate one sixth part, turpentine onev The compositions disclosed insixth part and sperm oil one half part, sub
stantially as described.
