SAFETY DEVICE F012,.ELECTRIC-CURRENT MACHINERY.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 13, 1912. Application filed October 11, 1911; Serial na. G54,144.-
' 'To call whom it may concern:
Be i known that 1,1 JUAN MAN EL SANCHEZ .FON'IECHA, subject of the King of Spain, residing at Mexico city, Mexico, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Safety Devices for Electric-Current Machinery, ofwhich the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in electric switches.
,The object of the invention is to provide is a diagramillustrating the application of 1)! y invention. Fig. 2 is a detailperspecti've of the improved switch.
"1. he numeral 20 indicates'a slab of marble, slate or other suitable material. 3011 this slab ,awre three switches 3, 3, 3 connected bywires 1, l, 1". As shown in the drawing tl1ree,,switches are controlled by a single operating switch. lever 5. The switches are exactly alike, and a description of one will be sufiicient to an understanding of them all.
Each switch comprises a plate 6 havinga main forwardly extended portion 7 and a rearwardly extended portion 8, and an auxiliar re-u-wardly extended member 9. Extending upwardly from the plate 6, are two blades lO, located adjacent the end of the auxiliary member 9. A second rearwardly extended auxiliary member 11 branches from the main rearwardly extended portion 8, and adjacent this member 11, and project-- ing upwardly from. the plate 6 are two blades 12, which are of greater height than the blades 10. To the end of the rearward-1y exit-aided main portion 8 is pivoted one leg of a switch lever 5, designed to cooperate with the blades 10 and 12.
Near one end of the base 20, is a bar 13. A fuse ii, connects the terminal of the rearwardly extended auxiliary member 11, and
the end of the bar 13. Connecting the end 1 of the rearwardly extended auxiliary member 9, and the bar 13, is a fuse 15, the re-' sistance'of which is considerably less than that of thefuse 14., Extending from thebar 13, is a wire 16, connected to a'motor 17.
The switch lever 5, has three legs to cooperate wit-h the blades on each switch, and from the bar 13, of each 'of the switches a .-wire 16 leads to the motor.
fuses 14, and to the motor. Upon further rocking of the switch .lever the legs contact with the blades 10, and break contact with .the upper ends of the blades 12 After the switch lever is completely lowered and contact is'madewith the blades 10, the current passes from the plates 6, auxiliary members 9, and the fuses 15, and thence to the motor. After having thus described I claim the following:
The combination of a base, a pair of spaced apart blades connected to. a plate on the base and havinga main forwardly extended portion and a main rearwardly extended portion and an auxiliary rearwardly extended member, a second larger pair j of blades mounted on the main rearwardly extended portion, a second rearwardly extended auxiliary member branching from the main rearwardly extended portion opposite the second larger pair of blades, a switch blade pivoted to the main rearwardly extended portion and adapted to be rocked to" engage between 'the'two sets of blades, a
bar mounted on the base, a fuseconnecting the second rearwardly'extended member and the bar, and a second fuse of less resistance tended member and the said bar.
my invention, l
