WELL-TILE-DRIVING DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN GRIFFITHS, citizen of the United States, residing at Deer Park, in the county of Suffolk and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Well-Tile- Driving Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in well tile driving devices and the object thereof is to provide a means for forcing well tiling into the well gradually as the well is being dug.
With the above and other objects in view, I have invented the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device in use, showing a well and the tiling therein in section, Fig. 2 is a top plan view of a collar to fit over a tile, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the collar.
Referring to the accompanying drawings 1 is the power end of a lever, one end of which is divided into a pair of separated arms 2 and 3 which are adapted to engage arms 4 and 5 on the collar 6, which fits over the tile 7.
To the rear end of the arms 2 and 3 is secured a winch 8 to which is secured a chain or cable 9, one end of which is secured to an anchor 10 driven into the ground.

On the forward end 11 of the device 1 weights 12 are placed, by means of which the device will force the tile into the well as the earth is removed therefrom by means of the auger 13. By means of the winch, the lever can always be kept on about a horizontal line.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A tile driving device consisting of a lever having one bifurcated end, in combination with a collar having arms thereon.
2. A tile driving device consisting of a lever having one bifurcated end, in combination with a collar having arms thereon, said collar being U-shaped in cross section, and adapted to engage the end of a tile.
3. A tile driving device consisting of a lever having one bifurcated end, in combination with a collar having arms thereon, said collar being U-shaped in cross section, and adapted to engage the end of a tile, and a winch secured to the fulcrum end thereof.
