My invention relates to improvements in concentrating apparatus more especially de signed :tor the separation of slin'ies from the .gapgue with which they are mingled. The term slimes in thisconnection means the lighter, and exceedingly fine metallic values whose specific gravity is not sufficient to cause them to readily stratify. words, they are normally held in suspension by the water and are lost with the gangue when ordinary concentrators are employed. In other words a concentrating apparatus which is adapted for the saving of the coarser mineral values is" ordinarily notadapted for; saving the finer and lighter values, termed slimes, as above ind' 'atcd.

The pulp to be treated upon the tables, is fed thereto by means of depending conduits 59 means of fastening devices 62. These plates are supported between the side arms 37 of the tables and are curved to discharge the pulp upon the inner extremity of the body of the table; they are located immediately above the table depressions 56 and serve to prevent the pulp from entering these depressions before it passes to the body of the table. It must be understood that a feed pipe 59 leads to each table 36 of thelower deck, while a feed pipe (30 leads to each table 36 of the upper deck of tables. Furthermore, each .of these conduits leads from the lowest parttSS of each portion or section (34 ofthe launder 2 Each of these launder portions 64 is composed of a bottom which is'downwardly .inclined in both directions, thus making it practicable to'remove the entire contents of the launder by the use of the conduits 59 and 60. Attention iscalled to' the fact that the upper stationary launder 28- is provided with a partitionwhich separates the same into a pulp compartment and'a water compartment. The locationof this partition-is indicated at 65 (see Fig. 1). As this view is really a section taken below the launder 28 it is in'ipracticable to show the partition in the launder but its location is indicated thereon and this is all that is thought necessary. This launder is also provided with another'partition whose location is-indicated at 66 in Fig. 1 and a third partition whose location is indicated at 67.
Assuming that the rotarty structure is traveling'in the direction indicateed by the arrow in F 1', it mustbe-understood that the stationary launder .28 is so constructed that it delivers pulp to the tables while they are traveling underneath the portion of the.

It will be understood that during the operation of the machine, the outer stroke of the longitudinal reciprocating or vibratory movement is imparted to the tables by the cam members 15, while the re turn movement is imparted by the springs 43 which are placed under tension during, the outward stroke of the tables. Attention is called to the fact that by virtue of the special construction of the cam 14, whereby the eccentricity of the cam members varies, the difierential motion imparted to the tables may be Varied in iniality to adapt them for use With various gradesor kind of material. A concentrator comprising a series oftahles arranged in circular form, andcenarally located rotary means for simultaneously imparting a diiierential outward motion to the tables, said means including a vcriic' cam nieinhc i and-Whose eccentricity varies in a vertical direction, radially disposed rods connected with one extremity of the tables and engaging the surface of the cam whereby mo tion is imparted to the tables in an outward direction tension springs mounted on the rods whereby motion is imparted to the tables in aninivard direction, and means tor iadjusting the cam whereby the reciprocation of the tables is varied, substantially as described.
