This invention relates to braiding machines using devices for temporarily moving .5 the bobbins out of the track of the drivers to 'temporarily render said bobbins inoperative and for subsequently restoring said bobbins to said track.
The object of the invention is to simplify I the construction of such machines and im! prove their'operat'ion.
To this end the said invention consists of theconstruction and combinat/ ion of parts hereinafter particularly set forth.l 55 The drawing illustrates several embodiments of the invention, by way" of example. In said drawing: Figure 1 is a plan of the first embodiment, part of the upper trackplate being removed, and Fin'. 2 is a CrosslO section on the line A-A of Fig. 1.
In the drawing, l is the upper track-plate of the new machine in which the track 2 for the bobbins 3 isprovided. At the places l where the bobbins cross, the points of the 55 traclcplate are removed alternately at the oneand the other side of the track and the track is thereby flattened. AAlternately at the inner Vside and outer side of the track there are arranged at the crossing` places lO'switches 4 in a well-known manner and opposite said switches there are arranged at the other side of the track at the lllattened parts of the same and below the track-plate withd awers 5. The latter possess at their l5 endsj acing the bobbin track anupwardly directed ,projection 6 which extends from side to side and which projects to such an extent into the bobbin track that `it 'inter-` cepts the bobbins when they are elevated i 0 by the drivers 7 andl leads themjout of the reach of their drivers. 'Each ofthe withdrawers 5 lis fastened on a rod which is displaceable in a vertical Iidirele'tion and which is guided in the upper track-plate 1 and lin the under plate 8, andfeach withdrawer is also guided while beirlg` verticallyl .Patented aug. e, 1912.
displaced by means of a ,pin 10 .projecting downward yfrom the track-plate with which pin the slotted end of ea'ch withdraweriengages. Usually each rod 9 is held up at 60 such a height by means of a spring 11 te withit and secured to the Aunder plate 8 that the project-ions 6 yon the wit?- drawers 5 come within reach f the bobb n pins, so that the bobbins arx led `,in the manner d scribedy above out of the track and are c isequently brought to a standstill. If therod 9 is pulled down by "the jac-y quard c rd 12 connected with it, E thn the projection 6 on the withdrawer 5t releases V70 the bobbin again'l and the latterlican be .pushed back again; into the track. For this purpose there is in the case of the lembodirnent shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a pawl 13 pivotally connected with the rod 9 above the 75 track-plate 1,' which pawl is presscdby a spring 14 against a pin 16` mounted in a support 15, soft/hat the lower end ofv the pawl although yrestingl just above the trackplate does/'noti come into'contact with the 80 latter, so that on the pawl being shifted the friction is reduced and the tracklfplate is not damaged thereby` On' the desce'nt of the rod 9 the pawl 13 moves out laterally and consequently strikes against the base of the bobbin and pushes the bobbin back again into the track where it is clasped 'by the driver and` driven on. The upstroke yof the rod 9 is ybrought about under the action of the spring` 11-. -Should the latterbecome 90 weak and then be no longer able to raise the rod 9 with the withdrawer, said rod and withdraw/'er are raised positively by the toothed driving .wheels 17 of the bobbindrivers. These toothed wheels possess on 95 their upper sides wedge-shaped elevations. 18 which, on the wheel rotating, slide under downwardly projecting projections 19 on .the withdrawers 5 and so raise the latter.
.It is not necessary for allA of the toothed wheels 17 to possess the elevations 18, on the contrary it is sutlicient if one wheel out of two is provided with such elevations, as each wheel comes into Contact with two neighboring withdrawers 5 which are, how- 105 ever, situated at different sides of 'the track.'
`What I'claim as 1I'ny invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is i l. Thel combination in a braiding machine of a track bobbins engaging therein, drivers 11C for drivi 'g said bobbins', a` vertically displaceable` rod projecting vabove the trackplate, a bobbin-withdrawer mounted on said VAl5.
rod, and a pivoted spring-influenced pawl on the upper end of said rod adapted on tlhe descent ott' the latter to move out laterally above the track-plate and push a bobbin back into the track within reach of a driver.
2. The combination in a braiding machine of a track, bobbins engaging therein, drivers for driving said bobbins,a vertically displaceable rod projecting above the trackplate, a bobbin-withdrawer mounted on said rod, a pivoted spring-influenced paWl on the upper end of said rod adapted on the descent of the latter to move out laterally above the track-plate and push a bobbin back into the track within reach of a driver, and a support for said pawl adapted to maintain the pawl justl above the upper surface .of the track-plate.
3. The combination in a braiding machine of a track, bobbins engaging therein, drivers for driving said bobbins, a vertically displaceable rod projecting above the trackplate, a bobbinwithdrawer mounted on said rod, a pivoted spring-influenced pawl on the upper end of said rod adapted on the descent ot the latter to move out laterally above the track-plate and push a bobbin 3, Losis back into the track within reach of a driver, and a support situated on the track-plate and provided with a pin adapted to'maintain the pawljust above the upper surface ofthe track-plate.
4. The combination in a braiding machine of a track, bobbins engaging therein, drivers for driving said bobbins, driving wheels for driving Said drivers said wheels having on,
ed on the downward movement ofthe rod to press abobbinA back into the track within reach of a driver.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
