The primary object of the invention is to provide means acted upon by the gas flame to holdthe gas valve open, said means closing said valve when the flame'is extin- I" I guished.- y

Inthedrawings, :lt) designates the gas I i burner, gas beingadmitted to the same by the valve 11, actuated bythe valve rod 12. A bracket 1a is secured to the burner said bracket being formed of a single piece of metal the body portion of which is bent to embrace the burner, the apert-ured extensions of said body portion being connected by the screw 16, in order that the same mayfbe clamped upon the burner. The arm 17 of the bracket is offset from the same and egg tends upwardly, and secured to said. arm is a bar 18 which is formedintermedi" ateits ends with a yoke19. This bar is secured at either end to a vertically extending arm 20 the lower ends of thearms 20 beingcurved to engagetjhe sliding weighted member 26. A second bar 24, similar in construction to the bar 18, is secured to said arm, and the two bars combine to form a guide for said sliding weighted member. This sliding weighted member 26 is provided with the head 27, to prevent the same from falling between the transverse bars 18 and 24, the end portion of the bar being connected to the valve rod 12 as shown in detail in Fig. 1. It will be seen that a construction of this character will cut ofi the flow of gas should the flame be extinguished-without manipulating .the valve. Attention is also called to the fact that the device may be easily and economically constructed, being readily applied to burners now in use. r
