character employing the cylinders now in common use and mounting the discharge connections thereon in such a manner that the cylinder head may be readily removed so that the plunger may be repaired or re# newed, and so that the cylinder may be removed from the lower head so that the inlet valve may be repaired or renewed.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the Aaccompanying drawings, forming a part of this invention, and in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section. Fig. 2 1s a horizont-al section taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. i
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents a suitable platform which is supported over the well and which has mounted thereon a bearing member 2 centrally apertured to receive the pump tubing 3 which is held in adjusted position by means of the set screw 4. The upper end of this pump tubing has connected thereto a Isuitable discharge nozzle 5 which is combined with a hose plug 6 in such a manner that either the nozzle or the plug may be used. Immediately above the nozzle a handle 7 is pivoted upon an extension 8 and is connected to a coupling rod 9 which in turn is removably connected to the pump plunger rod 10 which passes through a guiding eX tension 11 on the port 2 and will' be hereinafter described.
The lower end of the tubing 3 is connected to a three way valve casing 12 and the opposite end of the casing 12 has connected to it a long nipple 13 which is connected to a steel nipple 14 by a blind union 15. This union 15 has its lower end connected with the portion of the well tubing which enters the water and is numbered 17. The casing 12 contains a three way valve 18 which when turned in one direction communicates with a short nipple 19 and with the pipe 3 land the nipple 13, and when turned in another direction `communicates with the nipple 1.9 and the nipple 13 and a discharge pipe 20 leading out of the casing 12 in the opposite direction from the nipple 19. The nipple 19 is threaded into a plug 21 which is carried by a clamping band 22 surrounding the pump cylinder 23. The clamping band holds the nipple in communication with a discharge port 24 formed in the side `of the cylinder. This cylinder is provided with a removable head 25 having a stutling boX 26 formed therein through which the plunger .rod 10 works and carried upon the lower end of the plunger rod is a valved plunger 26 which when depressed admits water through its ports into the upper portion of the cylinder and which when raised discharges the water through the port 24 and the nipple 19 of the valve 18, the base of the latter being controlled by a rod and lever 27 the former extending up through the platform in position to be manipulated by the operator. The lower end of the cylinder 23 is closed by a head 28 having a port 29 therein which is in communication with the leg of the T 16 by means of a pair of nipples 30 and 31 and an L 32. Mounted upon the extension 8 is a guiding bracket 33 in which is slidably mounted a connecting rod 34 adapted to be secured to the link 9 and having its upper end provided with adjusting holes 35 by which the rod may be secured to a wind mill rod or to a pump jack. Guiding brackets 36 are secured to the tube 3 and are adapted to receive the plunger rod 10 so as to prevent the same from wabbling where the cylinder is a considerable distance from the platform in a deep well.
It will of course be understood that when it is desired to renew the valves in the plunger 26, the head 25 is removed and the plunger withdrawn. If it is desired to repair the valve which closes the port 29, the clamping band 22 is released from the cylinder and the cylinder unscrewed from the head 28 and the valve either replaced or repaired as found expedient. Both of these operations may be accomplished without removing the pump from the well as is at present the case.
The conduit which extends out of the valve casing in an opposite direction to the nipple 19 is preferably connected to a water or supply tank, as shown. The valve 18 may be readily moved so that the conduit 3 Patented J u1y'30', 19.12.

In combination, a cylinder having removable heads, and a discharge port, a valved plunger operating in the cylinder, an inlet valve, a discharge pipe, and means surrounding and fitting the cylinder for removably holding the dischargeppipe over the discharge port whereby the cylinder may be removed from one of the heads to repair the inlet valve.
3. In combination, a pump cylinder having a discharge port, a valve casing, a clamping band surrounding the cylinder, a nipple interconnecting the band and valve casing, said nipple being held in cornnn'lnicntion with the port by the clamping band, separate conduits connected to the casing, and a valve arranged in the casing for controlling the communication of the port to either conduit.
