lil/ly invention relates to improvements in gas-controllingapparatus, and my object is to r'ivitle newl and novel apparatus Whereby the supply of gas or 'other liuid entering a building through the service-pipe thereof, may be readily out ofi in luse of fire, or at any other time desired.
The apparatus embodies a self-closing velye for controlling the flow of fluid through the service-rupe, manually-operable ineens whereby said valve may be controlled at 'a point distantI therefrom, 'and fusible incanswhich when subjected to a predetermined degree of heat will melt and permit the valve to automatically close,

In practice, the valve is held in the open' position shown in Fig. l by nut 34. Should a fire occur in the building, or should it be desirable for any reason to cut-oit' the flow.

1. -In an apparatus ofthe character deintol a` building, a valve to control the flow' lf-fluidthroughsaidpipe, a Wheel on said 'valve toopen and close the same, means extending' at'a distance from' said wheel for turning the same in either direetiom conduits for. protecting said means, and a bracket adjustably-secured tothe valve, said 'bracketV having tubular portions to communicate with ,the oonduitsand bifurcated portions to prevent lateral movement of the wheel.
