To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLAUDE V. FULLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antiseptic Telephone-Mouthpieces, of which the following is a specification. 1
My invention relates to antiseptic guards for telephone mouth pieces or. transmitters.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide antiseptic guards which may bereadily attached to or detached from the usual type of telephone mouth pieces.
Another object of the invention is to provide a guard of the character described which will automatically fasten itself to the outer, edge of the transmitter.
Another object of the invention is to provide a guard which is initially treated to render possible the formation of the fastening means.
A still furt-her object of the invention is to provide an antiseptic guard which may be manufactured at a minimum cost, thereby permitting its general useso that it may be discarded when desired without any appreciable or material loss.
To the accomplishment of the recited obj ects and others coordinate therewith, the preferred embodiment of my invention resides in that construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanyingdrawings, and embraced 'withinthe scope of the appended claims.

Fig. 2 is asectional elevation of the antiseptic guard and the mouth piece of the transmitter. Fig. 3 isa front elevation of the guard detached, and Fig. 4 is a sectional elevation of a portion of the guard showing the antiseptic coating.
Generally speaking, the invention comprises a single piece of paper arranged vto present a substantially conoidal form and I treated with any suitable antiseptic composition, the main body'portion of'the paper being flutedv or otherwise constructed so that V the outer marginal edge thereof may be bent rearwardly and again forwardly. upon itself to form a fastening means which coi'iperates Specification of Letters Patent.

Referring more particularly to the drawings for a detail description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the antiseptic guard formed of a single piece of material,

'at 5, to present an annular flange, and in turn, a portion of this flange is flexed forwardly, as at 6. In this connection, it will be pointed out that the fluting of the material renders the formation of the flanges just described with facility. The antiseptic coating is indicated by 7 in Fig. 4.
In practical operation the lard 1 is grasped in the hand and gently forced into the transmitter 8 of a telephone, whereupon the inwardly disposed flange .6 will ride over the extreme outer edge of the transmitter until the latter occupies a position contiguous or contacting with the material of which the guard is formed at the junction of the body 3 and theangularly deflected flange 5. When the device has been caused to assume this position the flange 6 will, because of its inherent resiliency, spring inwardly so that the extreme edge thereof will engage the outer proximal end of the transmitter 7, but in a line below the extreme or distal end of the transmitter. By virtue of the foregoing arrangement the flange 6 will act in the capacity of a looking or fastening means, and preclude any possibilityof the antiseptic guard becoming accidentally removed or displaced relative the transmitter. -At the .same time, however, the engagementsof the flange 6 is such that the entire guard may be easily removed from the transmitter when the occasion requires. "Upon removing the device, it will be manifest that the flange 6 will be forced up the outer incline'portio'n of the marginal edge of the transmitter and 'hv'ill lie sufiiciently flat to allow an easy detachment.
