" lily-invention relates to circuit interrupters, and it has for its object-to provide a device oi this character that shall be rela tively simple and inexpensive in construction and adapted for use with very highvoltage circuits and .for installation in the open air. f
In the prior art, interrupters foixhighvoltage poly/phase circuits could notbe safely and suc 'essiully operatedin the open a'iruiider e weather conditions, by reason er, the-tendency oi"; the electric current's'to creep over Wet surfaces. it has been my aim to design a circuit breaker for accomplishing this result without sacrificing either simplicity and economy in construction or sensitiveness and efiiciency in opera tion.
According to my present. invention, 1 provide a plurality of independent inelosing', casings in which the main operating mechahisn'i and a number of groups of co operating stationary and l'uovable contact members severally disposed. The casings are Weather-proof andareseparated by material distances, the only cohnection be tween them, aside from eommonsupporting structures, being lormed by pipe sections through which an actuating rod extends. The lower parts of the casings are removable are made in the form of to contain a suitable insulating fluid.

Referring to the drawings, the device here illustrated comprises a stationary frame 1,

In order that, the line conductors, which are joined to the outer extremities of leads 10 and 11,1rnay be widely separated from each other, the leads are supported obliquely, their lower extremities being brought relatively close together with safety since, at this point, they are separated by the insulating fluid contained in the tank. The portions of the insulating bushings which are Without the tanks are protected from the Weather by a plurality of'insulathug bells or flanges 1'4.
