Letters Patent No. 103,139, dated -May 17, 1570.
IMPROVEMENT IN SLIDING-DOOR AIPARATUS.
T Sohedule referred to in these Letters Patent arid making part'hi'the same I, JACOB Games, the city of N ew York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Sliding-door Apparatus, of which the following is the specification.
Nature and Objects of the I a motion.
This invention consists in constructing, one of a pair of spring ways for door sheaves in two parts, and in uniting said parts by means of a slotted plate, for
the purpose of securing greater pliahility in the operation of the ways.

General Description.
A B,.iig. 1, is the upper way, and G D, fig. 1, is
the lower way, constructed of some strong metal, such as brass or iron, and having a sharp ridge or similar projection at the top of the upper way and atthe bottoiuof the lower way, as at E and F, fig. 2, upon which the grooves in the pulleys of the sheaves may fit, which pulleys are shown at G and G and H and H, fig. 1, and at G and H, fig. 2.

I, I, and I, fig. 1, and at I, iigi fiywhieh'are made of strong brass wire or other suitable material, and kept The in place by being partly sunk into the ways. upper way is constructed with a side flange and plate in any of the ordinary methods, to secure the same to the side beam or other support, as at J, fig. 2.
In order to give greater pliability to said iower way, it ispart'ed in the middle, as at K, fig. 1, the two ends being held in place by the plate L, which is made free to move up or down with the way by means of the slot M.
The operation of this apparatus is evident.
v \Vhen the door is pushed the sprin'gs keep the ways tight against the sheaves, andprevcnt all noise and tendency of the sheaves to get jumped from the ways.
Besides its application to doors, I propose to use saidapparatus for shutters, sashes, gates, and all other like constructions to which its application may be. desit-able Claim I claim the divided way 0 D, when'combined with 7 way A B and slotted plate L, substantially as described, for the purpose set forth."
