REVOLVING CASE AND ACCOUNT-REGISTER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT E. TRENTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Antonio, in the county of Bexar, State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Cases and Account-Registers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a revolving case and an account register and the primary object of the invention is to provide a device of this character adapted for use in connec tion with an account system, especially in stores and to provide a convenient means whereby an account book for each customer may be provided and readily obtained for keeping accounts.

Another object of the invention is to provide a revolving case register which is provided with a rotatable cabinet provided with a series of pockets adapted to receive the books of the various customers which will be prevented from displacement during the rotation of the cabinet and in which said books will be automatically disposed in a projected position relative to the cabinet or periphery thereof so as to be readily grasped for recording a bill or payment and in which means are also provided for supporting superfluous books conveniently at hand for use of new customers.

Another object of the invent-ion is to provide a revoluble cabinet or wheel adapted to be removably supported for rotation within a casing of the general design of a cash register whereby the said wheel may be removed for storing it within a safe and also to provide a desk convenient for use in the front of the device.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain other combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, it being a still further object of the invention to provide a device which will not be likely to get out of working order.

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view thereof to more clearly disclose the manner of rotatably supporting the cabinet or pocket wheel. Fig. 4; is a side Specification of Letters Patent.

12, said cabinet being provided with a top 14 and having a series of partitions 15 vertically and horizontally therein to provide a series of pigeon holes adapted for receiving a number of superfluous or unused manifold books of any desired form whereby said books will be convenient for use in opening or starting new accounts. The lower front portions of the side walls 10 are of reduced height as shown at 16 and have a front wall 17 secured thereto to provide. a box or receptacle having a rear wall 18 and a lid 19 which is hinged as shown at 20 to a cross strip 21 connecting the upper edges of the opposite side walls 10, the said lid having its surrounding edges projecting from the sides and front wall to provide a desk for use in entering charge accounts in one of the books or otherwise while the receptacle thus formed may be employed for receiving the other account books or business papers.

The intermediate upper edge portions of the side walls 10 are curved in arc-form as shown at 21 and provided with a cover 22 which is hinged as shown at 23 to the lower front portion of the extension cabinet at the back portion of the casing and adapted to have any suitable advertising matter printed thereon while the forward lower edges of the side walls 10 are provided with curved or arc-shaped recesses 24 adapted to permit rotation of a pocket cabinet or wheel 25 in which the various account books are alphabetically or otherwise arranged. This rotatable cabinet comprises the circular side walls 26 which are connected by a series of spaced parallel partitions 27 and arcuate plates 28 connecting partitions in the adj acent pairs to provide a series of segmental casings and intermediate pigeon holes or spaces 29. The arcuate plates 28 are spaced from the peripheral edges of the circular plates 26 forming the sides of the rotatable cabinet or wheel and a series of radial partitions 80 are disposed between the spaced partitions 27 in transverse alinement to provide a series of said pigeon holes which may be designated by a suitable letter as indi cated at 31 or other indicia for obtaining the particular manifold or account books, which may be contained in that particular pigeon hole and thus insure quick and accurate posting of accounts.

In order to rotatably support the cabinet or wheel 25, a shaft 32 is transversely mounted centrally thereof and within a cir cular partition 33 forming an end wall for each of the pigeon holes 29 by connection with the partition walls forming the same, said shaft being detachably engaged in bearing boxes 33 slidable in slots 84 in the inner portions of the side walls 10 and provided with conical extensions 84 between which and the shaft .ball bearings 35. are disposed to permit rotation of the cabinet without undue friction and it will be seen that owing to the formation of the recesses 24 in the side walls 10, an operator desiring to rotate the cabinet may grasp the side walls of the cabinet and rotate the same to expose the pigeon hole beneath which the proper indication is carried. Means are also provided to prevent displacement of the manifold or account books 36 within the pigeon holes as the cabinet revolves and for this purpose a shield 37 preferably of polished flexible metal or otherwise is provided, the same being circular in form and mounted within the casing around the unexposed portion of the cabinet spaced from the peripheral edge of the latter and having one end directed upwardly as shown at 38 and secured to the 'front edge portion of the hinged cover 22 heretofore described while the opposite end of said shield is securedvto the rear upper edge portion of the strip 21 forming a part of the desk and extend ing upwardly and forwardly in a curved position as shown at 39. It will thus be seen that as the cabinet revolves the books will fall by gravity to engage with the inner face of the shield and will project a suflicient distance from the pigeon holes or cabinet to permit the convenient removal thereof.

I wish .to have it understood that I may make such changes in the construction of the device as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims and it is further understood that the device under the statutes is protected for all desirable uses to which it may be put without departing from the spirit of the invention. 7

I claim iy a 1. In a revolving case and accountregister, a casing having an opening, a circular cabinet rotatably mounted within the cars ing and provided with a series of peripheral opening compartments and a removable and flexible shield within the casing spaced from the periphery of the cabinet to prevent displacement of account books within the compartments and to automatically project the same from the cabinet when disposed at the opening.

In a revolving case and account register, a casing having side walls, said walls having recesses communicating with the edge portions thereof, a shaft, bearings removably mounted in the recesses and engaged by the shaft, a back wall and a bottom wall, a circular cabinet rotatably supported on the shaft and comprising spaced circular side walls, a series of parallel partitions forming compartments extending radially around the cabinet, a circular partition between said side walls form-ing end walls for the compartments, each compartment being provided with a suitable indicia, a shield within thecasing spaced from the periphery of the cabinet, said sides having arcuate recesses between which said cabinet projects to provide gripping portions for rotating the cabinet and a hinged cover for the upper portions of the sides.

In a revolving case and accountregister, a casing having side walls, a back wall and a bottom wall, a circular cabinet rotatably supported in the opposite side walls and comprising spaced circular side walls, a series of parallel partitions forming compart-ments extending radially around i the cabinet, a circular partition between said side walls forming end walls for the compartments, each compartment being provided with a suitableindicia, a shield within the casing spaced from the periphery of the cabinet, said sides having recesses between which said cabinet projects, a cover for the upper portions of the sides, a vertical extension at the rear portion of the casing divided. into a series of compartments, a forward extension at the lower portion of the casing, a wall separating said last named extension from the cabinet, and supporting said shield and a lid for said forward extension.
