From the foregoing descripticm it is ohvious that the lever 23 may be adjusted bodily with relation to the bar 1-l y moving the roller 4- thereon so: as to properly position the pawls IR and 19 u'pon. the wheel 16. The collar 8 is fixed upon. the the lever 3 and elevates the.b1tur(ated end thereof. Thus the pawl 18 is moved up with relation to the wheel 16 while the spring 20 holds the pawl 19 in engagement 'does not come in contact with the wheel 15 and the lever 3 is not operated. By reason of the fact that the peripheral portion 14 of the cam 10 is convexed and the periphery of the wheel 15 is concaved the said, cam and wheel will occupy the same plane when in contact with each other and-will not become v displaced laterally with relation to each other. Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In combination with a wagon body having a rotatable shaft journ'aled thereon and a cam mounted upon said shatt, a second shaft journaled upon said bod a ratchetwheel fixed; to said second shaft, a bar mounted upon said body, a collar adj ustably mounted upon saidbar, a lever i'ulerumed upon saidcollar-and projecting between the cam and ratchet wheel, and adapted to be operated by the cam, a pawl pivotally mounted upon the lever and engaging the ratchet wheel for .actuating the same,- a retrograde preventing pawl engaging the ratchet wheel for holding the ratchet wheel against reverse movement, said pawls being located at points upon the lever which have movements with relation to the f'ulcrum point of the leverand which movements dif fer in scope with relation to each other.
2. In combination, a ratchet wheel, a bell crank lever, an adjustable means to regulate the swing of said bell crank lever, a wheel carried in the extreme end of one of the arms of said bell crank lever, a cam in operable'relation with said wheel'of the bell crank lever for causing the same and the end of the bell crank lever to be dipped, a pawl pivotally connected to the bell crank lever and'having the same axis as said wheel,
