In a car underframe, a continuous lon-'-A y' gitudinal sill extending from end to endof the underframe and comprlslng a commerc'ial shape, andy a continuous cross member' comprising a commercial shape extending lfrom side to side of the underframe through the webs of `said center sills and lying with its upper surface flush with the upper surface of the longitudinal sill.
