FEEDER FOR DRY SEPARATORS.
Application filed February 6, 1911.
To all whom it may concern:
' Be it known that I, FRITZ OSCAR STRO M- BORG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of King and State of Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in Feeders for Dry Separators; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de-' scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to feeders for dry separators for ores or like material.
The object of the invention is to provide improved means for feeding ore in a dry separator upon an upwardly inclined, upwardly moving element from the upper end of which the ore is thrown into hoppers, provided for the purpose.
With this object in view, the invention consists in the improved construction, arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and afterward specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings: Figurel is a plan view of my improved feeder; Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sect-ion of the same.
In the embodiment of the'invention as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, 1- denotes' a supporting frame in which is arranged an inclined ore delivering belt 2. The belt 2 passes around upper and lower pulleys 3' and i which are fixedly mounted on the supporting shafts 5 and 6 j ournaled insuitable bearings on the frame, as shown. On one end of the'shaft 6 is fixedly mounted a drive pulley 7 whereby the belt is operated in the proper direction for delivering the ore. On the belt 2 is arranged a series of slats 8 which receive and carry the ore to the upper portion of the frame at which point the ore is delivered or thrown into the air with more or less force accordingto the speed at which the belt is driven.
Arranged in the frame over the lower end of the belt is an ore feeding mechanism comprising a trough or hopper 9 having inclined side walls 10 and an inclined and curved bottom 11 which terminates a short 7 distance beyond the center of the trough,
thus leaving the discharge end and adjacent portion of the trough open. The open or discharge end of the trough is disposed over the lower end of the belt whereby theore passing through the hopper is evenly fed Specification of Letters Patent.

to the delivery belt. The lower edges of those parts of the side walls 10 forward of the extremity of the bottom, and on the sides of the open portion of the bottom, are upwardly inclined, parallel with and very near to the upper part of the belt 2, and overhang the margins of the belt sufliciently to deposit the material at a suitable distance from the edges of the belt to make unnecessary the provision of upstanding side pieces along the margins of the belt to prevent the material spilling off. The ore is discharged into the hopper 9 from a suitable conveyer or chute 12.
In the delivery end of the frame, and at a suitable distance below and beyond the delivery end of the belt 2 is arranged a series of ore receiving and separating hoppers of any suitable form, and for instance as shown at the right hand end of Fig. 2, but which forms no part of the present invention.
Slight changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted. to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A dry separator comprising a hopper consisting of sides having their lower edges inclined downwardly from their rear ends to a point near their mid-lengths where they are curved, their curves being extended slight-1y upward at their forward edges, said lower edges, from the termination of their curved portions forward, being inclined forwardly and upwardly to their front ends, an inclined and curved bottom connecting the lower, edges of'the sides beginning'at the rear ends and extending to and ending at the termination of their curved portions, the bottom being open from this point to the front end, in combiinclined direction, said moving member be-' ing parallel with and very near to the upwardly inclined forward portions of the lower edges of the side walls of the hopper and closing the forward open portion of the bottom of the hopper, and said up wardly inelined forward rtions of the my hand in presence of two subscribing wit lower .edges of the side wal of the hopper nesses.
