- This invention relates to a combined water and steam radiator of that class where the water is contained in certain parts of the radiator where it may be heated by the admission of steam in such a way that all of the advantages of a hot water'heating system may be obtained with a less amount of fuel than thatrequ'ired forthe usual water system, as it requires much less fuel to generate sufficient steam to heat the water than it does to directly heat the water, owing to the fact that in a combined system the water does not have to circulate and thus retains the heat fora longer time.

This invention relates to a combined water and steam radiator of that class where the water is contained in certain parts of the radiator where it may be heated by the admission of steam in such a way that all of the advantages of a hot water'heating system may be obtained with a less amount of fuel than thatrequ'ired forthe usual water system, as it requires much less fuel to generate sufficient steam to heat the water than it does to directly heat the water, owing to the fact that in a combined system the water does not have to circulate and thus retains the heat fora longer time.
The objects of the invention are vide a combined radiator that may on either a single or a be used of both the hot water and the steam systems. \Vith these and other objects in view my invention consists in certain construction and combination of parts as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed herewith, and fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application and in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views; but it is fully understood that while I have invention as shown, that I do not confine myself to the exact construct-ion asshown, as slight changes may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to a the drawings pipe system; it will be seen that the intermediate'section 1, and the inner chambers'ti, having been filled with steam may be admitted through the inlet pipe 8, into the outer chamber 7, of the coil 4, and said steam will circulate upward throughsaid chamber 7 and through the upper hubfof the coils over the surfacev of the water and downward through the chafrfher 7, in the opposite end coil to the outlet pipe '11,thus heating the water with aminimum amount of steam.
