To all whom it may concern Be itknown that I, MATTHIAS GEORGE BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gulfport, in the county of Harrison and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Filling Grease-Cups, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawmg.
The invention comprehends a portable receptacle adapted to carry a quantity or supply of lubricant provided with means for removably attaching the same to a grease cup and instrumentalities for" discharging the desired amount of the lubricant from said'receptacle into the cup.
As will appear to those skilled in the art, the invention also embraces the formation of a filling device of the general character referred to with a coupling element adapted to cooperate with a complementary element formed on a part of the grease cup structure facilitating a quick connection or disconnection of the filling device relative to the said cup.

Referring more specifically to the drawings, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts in the several views, A represents one end of an ordinary pitman, B the pin upon which the same is pivoted and which latter it is desirable to maintain in a lubricated condition, and O is the usual grease cup formed integral with the pitman opening throu in the base thereof to the pivot pin B.

As distinguished from the cap or cover customarily employed, the cover D in this instance is provided with an upwardly projecting centrally disposed stem (2 having an aperture 6 communicating with the hol low interior (1 of the cover C and arranged at the baseof an inwardly tapering seat E at the mouth of said stem. As will be apparent, the lubricant receptacle, represented at G may be of any desired size and shape, and the same may be provided with any preferred or suitable discharging means, that shown consisting of a hollow plunger or piston H having a threaded engagement g with the topof the .receptacle, the upper end of the piston or plunger It being of angular formation to facilitate the adjustment thereof. The interior of the lower portion of the receptacle inclines to a discharge outlet 2' in the base I of the receptacle, a tapered nipple J being provided at this point to fit the seat E in the cap of the grease cup heretofore referred to.

In a lubricating apparatus, the combination of a lubricant-receiving member mounted in fixed position on the article to be lubricated, a cover for said member detachably connected to and carried by the mouth thereof having a relatively small aperture therethrough and a coupling member formed integrally therewith, a removable lubricant-delivery member arranged in abutting relation to the lubricant-receiving member also having a relatively small aperture registering with the aperture in the cover and a complementary coupling mem-' ber integral therewith cooperating with the coupling member on the cover to bind the two members together, and a tapered nipple and seat engagement'between the two members surrounding the apertures thereof to seal the joint therebetween'when the cou- 1 pling members are engaged.
