CLOCK CPBRATED ELECTRIC SWITCH.
APPLIOATION FILED MAB.. 2, 1912.

FRANKLIN PIERCE CAUBLE, OF HIGH POINT, NORTH CAROLINA.
CLOCK-OPERATED ELECTRIC SWITCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 21, 1912.
Application filed March. 2, 1912. Serial No. 681,151.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANKLIN P. CAUBLE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of High Point, county of Guilford, State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clock Operated Electric Switches, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view; and Fig. 2 a side elevation of my apparatus.
The object of this invention is to provide a simple apparatus whereby an ordinary alarm clock can be utilized to `automatically, at any predetermined timewithin the limits of the apparatus open or close an electric light or other circuit, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing, a designates the usual gong hammer of a well known form of alarm clock, which hammer is adapted to be rapidly vibrated when the alarm is set off by the clock. This clock is attached to a base board b in any suit-able manner, and attached to the hammer is a wire or cord c which is carried down to the base board and under a guide loop or roller cl thereon, the extremity of this wire or cord c being attached to the under side of a trigger c pivoted at its forward end and provided at the same end with a projection f.
A wire bail g is pivoted on a pivot eX- tending across the board just in front of the trigger c, and attached to the free end of this bail is a wire or cord 7L, which extends upwardly and passes over an elevated pul* ley z' and thence downwardly and forwardly to the switch lever j in the electric circuit. A coil spring 7c surrounds the pivot of this Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents cach, by addressmg the to the base board' bail and tends to swing it strongly backward, toward the clock, and when thus swung over, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, the cord or cable h will be drawn taut and the switch lever y' will be swung upwardly to an open position. To lock the bail in its abnormal or ope "ative position, I employ a pivoted lever Z whose free end is adapted to engage under the lip f of the trigger and loe thereby held down, thus holding the bail down close to the base board, in its operative position.
It will be observed that with the parts in the position shown in full lines in Fig. 2, when the alarm hammer is vibrated, the cord c will trip the lever e and thus release lever Z, whereupon the spring 7c will with considerable force and very quickly throw the bail g over backwardly to the position shown in dotted lines, which action will snap open the switch.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with an alarm clock embodying a vibratory alarm lever, a cord connected at one end to said lever, a trigger connected to the other end of said cord, a lock lever adapted to be held down by said trigger, a spring actuated swinging` bail adapted to be held in abnormal position by said lock lever, a cord connected to said bail and a switch device adapted to be operated by a pull on this latter cord.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aliiX my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
FRANKLIN PIERCE CAUBLE.
