This invention has for its object the production of a simply-constructed and ec0- nomically-manufactured casing for incanand it consists in the combinations and constructions hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In describing this invention reference is had to the accompanying drawing in which like characters. designate corresponding arts in all the views.
Figure 1 is an unassembled view of this casin for incandescent electric lamp sockets, t e cap member and contiguous parts being shown in section. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of said casing, the members thereof beg assembled. ig. 3 is an inner face view of the cap member. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the shell member; Fig. 5 is a fragmentary viewof the shell and cap member when interlocked. Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 5 illustrating the members prior to'being interlocked. Figs. 7 and 8 are fragmentary views of modified forms of my casing.
This casing for incandescent electric lamp sockets, comprises a shell member 1 and a cap member 2 having interlocking means which are brought into and out of interlocking engagement by successive axial and artial rotary movements of the members. The interlocking means comprises internal shoulders 3 formed on one of the members here shown as the cap member 2, the shoulders 3 being located in arcs of less radii than the normal radius of the cap, or of less radii than the radii of the portions of the cap intervening between the shoulders 3; and such interlocking means further includes peripheral shoulders on the other of such members, as theshcll member 1, the shoulders i being located in arcs of greater radii than the radii of the inner edges of.

In Fig. 7, is shown a modified form of the shoulders on the shell member, such shoul rs 8 beingshown as formed by pressing on wardly portions of the mar in of the shell member 1 in a manner simi ar to the formation of the shoulders 3 of the cap member shown in Fig. 3.
In Fl 8, I have shown another modified form of my invention in which the interlocking shoulders 9, 10 of the cap and shell members are formed byturning inwardly tongues formed on the margin of the cap member, and turning outwardly tongues formed on the margin of the shell member. The cap member is also formed with an internal abutment 11 near its upper end 01)- posed to the internal shoulders 3 of the cap member, and the upper edge of the shell member shoulders against said abutment when the shoulders 3, t are interlocked.
In operation the cup membey' is' secured to the supporting fixture by means [of the ordinary screw threaded coupling 12, and the socket wired to the conductors leading in through the coupling, and the shell memher which is around the socket is moved axially carrying the shoulders t between the shoulders 3 of the cap member until the lower edges of the shoulders 4 clear the upper edges of the shoulders 3' and then the shell member is given a partial rotation about its axis until the snap catch device operates.
