Description

UNIT D STAillES PATENT OFFICE.
MYRTIL KAHN AITD ANTON OSSENBECK, OF ELBERFELD, GERMANY, ASSIGNORS TO FARBENFABRIKEN VORM. FRIEDR. BAYER & 00., 0F ELBERFELD, GERMANY, A
CORPORATION OF GERMANY.
DYE-BATH AND PROCESS OF DYEING.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
, Be it known that we, MYRTIL KAIIN and ANTON OSSENBECK, doctors of philosophy, chemists, citizens of the German Empire, residing at Elberfeld, Germany, hate invented new and useful Improvements in Dye-Baths and Processes of Dyeing, of Which the following is a specification.
We have found that blue fast shades on Wool can be obtained by dyeing according to the one-bath method the azo dye: 4-chloro- 2 aminophenol 6 sulfonio acid azo-betanaphthol on wool in the presence of a chrome mordant.
In order to illustrate the new process more fully the followin example is given, the parts being by We1ght:Irepare the dye-bath with 4 per cent. of the dye: 4- ohloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid+betanaphthol, bring to the boil, add 2 per cent. of potassium bichromate, enter the wool at (SO-80 C, bring to the boil, boil during hour and add slowly 2-3 per cent. of acetic acid and continue boiling for 14% hours. A deep dark blue fast shade is thus obtained. Another chrome compound or another acid ca'n be used.
We claim 1. In the art of dyeing wool the improve- Speciflcation of Letters Patent.

ment consisting in dyeing wool from an acid bath containing a chrome mordant and the dye: 4-chloro-2-aminopheno1-6-sulfonicacid-azo-beta-naphtho], substantially as described.
2. In the art of dyeing wool the improve ment consistingin dyeing wool from an acid bath containing potassium bichromate and the dye: 4-chloro-2-aminophenol-G-sulfonicacid-azo-beta naphthol, substantially as described.
3. Anracid dye-bath comprising the azodye 4 chloro 2 aminophenol 6 sulfonicacid-azo-beta-naphthol and a chrome mordant, substantially as described.
4. An acid dye-bath comprising the azodye: 4 chloro 2 aminophenol 6 snlfonicacid-azo-beta-naphthol and potassium bichromate, substantially as described.
