To all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY W. SANFORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Surgical Kits, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to surgical kits and it has for its object to provide an article, including a pair of nesting soft rubber stalls, that may be carried about and subjected to more or less rough usage and in which nevertheless the liquid containing member will be protected, the sticking plaster will be protected against contamination from contacting with the Walls of the kit, in which furthermore a protecting element may be employed which may be utilized in surgery and in which the contents of the kit will be securely sealed from the influence of the atmosphere and may thus retain its antiseptic qualities for a maximum period.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which similar reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views, Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a surgical kit constructed in accordance with my invention, Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view thereof, Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the vial and adhesive band wound thereon, removed from the package, Fig. 4 is a side elevation ofamodilied form of kit, Fig. 5 is a sectional view thereof.

In carrying out the aim of my invention, I employ a hollow spherical stall 5 having an access opening 6, this stall being made of rubber or similar elastic material as desired. Held Within this outer spherical stall 5 is an inner spherical stall 7 also made of thin rubber or the like and having an access opening 8 therein, for a purpose to be hereinafter more clearly made apparent. The outer stall 5 is adapted to receive the inner stall 7, and the inner stall 7 is adapted to contain or hold the vial 10 holding a suitable antiseptic in the desired form and closed by a screw cap or the like 11.

The vial 10 in turn, serves as a carrier for a strip of adhesive tape 12 which is wound thereon and surrounding this tape and disposed within the inner stall is a suitable absorbing material 13 of cotton or the like, which is adapted for use in treating a wound as is apparent. The inner stall 7 is drawn over the vial surrounded by the absorbing material and forms a jacket therestall 14 and the inner stall 15 are of oval form so as to permit them to be more compactly assembled for carrying the same in the pocket or other convenient place. In this form the stalls and necessaries disposed therein are of similar construction and the stalls are also provided with the access openings 16 and 17 for the outer and inner stalls respectively as heretofore described.

It will thus be seen that I have provided a protection pocket for carrying the medical materials described for dressing injuries of various kinds which is of very compact form convenient for use and which will be advantageous for use in various instances. In an emergency requiring the use of the kit, the outer stall is removed by rolling back the edge of the opening 6 until the inner stall is completely uncovered, when the vial and its covering may be readily withdrawn from the inner stall, the antiseptic, tape and absorbing material then being made accessible. The inner stall can then also be made to do service in holding the absorbing material, it being further understood that the vial 10 may be of any con venient form desired.

What is claimed is:

1. A surgical kit comprising an inner small rubber stall having an opening in one side for the introduction of surgical appliances, and an independent outer larger rubber stall having an opening in one side whereby said larger stall is capable of being stretched for the introduction of said smaller stall thereinto.

2.
