Hw-v IMPROVEMENT IN PRUNING-HOOKS.

It consists'in a pruning-hook, and in a saw combined therewith, arranged to operate as hereinafter more fully described.

In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a side view of the pruning-hook, shown without the saw.

A is the staff, which is made of wood, and of any desired size and length.

B is a cutter, with sha-rp cutting-edge C, the shank vof which is'made fast in the'statf.

D is the hook, which is connected 'with the cutter by clips E F, and made to slide thereon by means of the/rod G, one end of which rod is removably attached to a lug, H, ou the clip E, and the other end to the lever I. This lever has its fulcrum at J, on a. pla-te, K, attached to the staii.

For cutting limbswhich cannot be readily severed with the cutter, the saw is veryconvenient. It is readily adjusted and detached, and the manner in which it isconnccted with the hook renders it most efcient in the process of pruning. 4
