' SUPPORT non PAINT-BUCKETS.
. Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 2, 1912.
Application filed January 6, 1912. Serial No. 669,724.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that'I, GARIBALDI STAHR, a
citizen of the United States, residing at.
Petaluma, in the county of Sonoma and State of California, have invented a new and useful Support for Paint-Buckets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the 1nvention, such as will'enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and useful support, for supporting paint buckets and the like in a level position on an inclined roof.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a device of this design in which there is involved novel features of construction.
One of the features of this improved device is the provision of two members, capable of adjustment with relation to one another, one having a hook at its upper end to engage the upper edge of the bucket, while the other engages the roof, there being an adjustable slide having a clamping screw to engage the bottom of the bucket, to hold the bucket level.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings :Figure 1 is a view in.
showing the application of the bucket support. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the support, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the L-shaped slide. Fig. 4 is a perspective view, showing two of the supports, illustrating how the bucket is supported horizontally by engaging a roof.
Referring to the drawings 1 designates the paint bucket, while 2 denotes the support therefor. The support comprises two flat elongated members, each having a series of apertures 4. One series of apertures is threaded: The two elongated fiat members are denoted by the characters 3 and 3 The member 3 is provided with an overhanging hook at its upper end, to engage the upper edge of the bucket, while the member 3 terminates at its lower end in a fork 6, adapted to engage the roof. A bolt 7 is provided which penetrates one of the non-threaded apertures and threaded into one of the threaded apertures, for holdperspective,
ing the two members in adjusted positions. When the members are adjusted as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the apertures are in registration. Slidable on the members is an L- shaped slide 9, the foot 10 of which engages under the bucket, so as to clamp the bucket between it and the overhanging hook. A
thumb bolt 11 is threaded through the foot of the slide, so as to engage the bottom of the bucket, and on the inner side of the rim 12 of the bottom of the bucket, thereby preventing the bucket from displacement laterally of the support. The vertical portion of the slide is provided with a threaded aperture 13, through which and two of the registering apertures of the members, a thumb bolt 1a is threaded, for holding the slides in adjusted positions. When a bucket is supported by this improved support as shown in Fig. 1, the painter is relieved of various inconveniences, thereby permitting him to facilitate his work.
In Fig. 4 there is illustrated two supports for supporting the paint bucket, one edge of which rests or engages the inclined roof, so as to hold the bucket level.
The invention havingbeen set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is:
1. In combination, a pair of elongated flat members, one having a series of nonthreaded apertures, while the other is provided with a series of threaded apertures, the members being held adjustable with retures are in registration, means for holding the members adjustable with relation tov each other, one of the members having an overhanging hook at its upper end, while the other terminates at its lower end in a fork adapted to engage a roof, and means slidable on the members adapted to clamp a paint bucket between it and the overhanging hook.
2. In combination, a pair of elongated fiat members, one having a series of nonthreaded apertures, while the other is provided with a series of threaded apertures, the members being held adjustable with relation to one another so that the apertures are in registration, means for holding the .members adjustable with relation to each arranged on the members at the point where they are adjacent one another, a thumb bolt penetrating the sides for holding it adjusted thereon, the slide having a foot, between which and the overhanging hook a paint bucket is adapted to be clamped, and a screw threaded in the foot to engage the bottom of the bucket, the screw of the foot constituting means to cooperate with the rim on the bottom of the bucket to prevent 1O lateral displacement of the bucket.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GARIBALDI STAHR.
