To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELDEN P. LAMB, citizen of the United States, residing at Camden, Maine, (and whose post-office address is Camden, Maine,) have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Float-Feed Carbureters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in charge-forming devices or carburetors for hydrocarbon engines, and particularly to the float feed mechanism for controlling the inlet valve of a carbureter substantially as disclosed in an application for Letters Patent of the United States, filed by me August 30, 1909, vaporizer for hydrocarbon engines, Serial No. 515,239, of which this is a divisional application.
The invention comprises the novel features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and particularly set forth in the appended claim.

The annular space 4 between the walls 1 and 1 constitutes the fuel chamber in which the hydrocarbon is maintained at the proper level by the float 5 carried by a rocking lever 6 pivoted in an extension 7 of the chamber and having its end 8 forked to engage the stem of a valve 9 which controls the fuel inlet 10. The valve stem is provided with collars 11 above and below the forked end of the lever 6, and the upper end of the Specification of Letters Patent.

stem is projected through a screw cap 12 and serves for priming purposes. Sometimes the float 5 needs adjustment, because of becoming soaked or otherwise. This is ordinarily a ditlicult matter to determine, and in order to simplify this and to secure a more accurate adjustment, I provide a sight tube 13 in a suitable extension 14 of the wall 1 by which the height of the liquid may be determined from mere observation from the exterior, and the degree of adjustment, if any, noted. This adjustment is accomplished by a rotatable eccentric pivot pin 15 operating in the float lever 6, which pivot pin has the part which passes through the float lever eccentric to the parts which are journaled in the walls of the carbureter, so rotation of the pin tends to raise or lower the pivotal axis of the float lever. Provision is made to operate this pin from the outside of the chamber wall 1 which in turn raises or lowers the float, thereby regulating the level of the hydrocarbon. The means for effecting rotation of the pivot pin may consist of merely a slot in the end of the pin to receive a screw driver or key. By means of this eccentric pin, capable 'of being operated from the outside, the fuel level can be changed and located through the glass without the carburetor being dismantled.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
In a float feed carbureter, a casing, a float Within said casing, a lever carrying said float, and a rotatable pivot pin passing through the float lever and journaled in the casing, said pivot pin being constructed with the part which passes through the lever eccentric to the part journaled in the casing whereby rotation of the pin eifects adjustment of the lever.
