The objects of this invent-ion are to pro vide a rapid, simple and positive means for charging skelp or other blanks oi a niagnetic or inagnetizabie nature into heating furnaces by the use of a magnet carried by a suitable framework or charging table having travel across the charging end of the furnace.

The combination 'of a furnace, a chargshaft 11, radiately along theing table at one end thereof, and a magnet thereon having surface travel toward the furnace, the said surface being arranged to be. engaged by linear magnetic materials, and to transfer the same to the furnace.
2. The combination of a furnace, a charging table et the end thereof, a rotary ma net having its axis of rotation transverse 0:' the table and furnace, the `magnet bein arranged so that the part thereof whic r0- tates toward the furnace may be engaged by linear magnetizable material.
