Beit known that I, TIioMA's-HORSMAN., a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, inthe county 'of' Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Ain Compound Belts, of whichthe following is a specification.
This invention relates to 'improvements in belts, and more particularly to improvements in compound belts.-

In Fig. 5 I have shown a slight modification; The blocks DV and E are secured to the lower face, of the band A', these blocks being similar to the blocks B `of the pre.- -ferred form of belt, the diii'erencebeing that the blocks D are formed at each endw'ith tongues or projections D and alternate with blocks E, which are formed with grooves vor notches E, the tongues lD being adapted to lit into the notches E to form a tongue -and groove connectionwhen' the belt is in use. The `function of this -Inodication' is the same as inthe peferredffor'm show-n in the drawings .and described ,above .and merely illustratesxone of the many mo'difof being embodied.
While I have manner shown and dedes'ribed my mennen with e more or lessrninuteness and as beinggembodied 41n certain preelseiorms, yet 1t 'will be understood that I'do not desire to limitmyself unduly thereto, or any more than is pointed out in the claims: On the contrary, I contemplate all proper .changes in form, construction, and arran ement, the omission of immaterial parts an the substitution of equivalents as circumstances may su'gge'st or necessity render expedient.
