The lower end of the shaft is, in normal operation. unsupported. .hut in order to uard against excessive lateral movement curing critical speeds which are liable to momentarily occur for various reasons I provide a guard hearing 16 at the bottom of the shaft, this being composed of a projection rising-from the chamber in the base 7 in which projection a recess 17 of a size somewhatlarger than the diameter of the shaft, is=formed so that when the shaft is running naturally and truly there will be no contact between it and the hearing, but whenever lateral,movement may momentarily occur for any reason the hearing will support the shaft and guard against excessive movementin this direction. A nut 87 or other enlargement at the end of each bolt 34 underlies an car 38 in'which a slot is formed to receive the bolt, the slots in the ears on each side opening in the opposite direction from that on the opposite side, so vthat as the receptacle 27 is turned each bolt'will moved downward action of the cams 39, will d w the receptacle tightly to its seat, the cam being so located that it will pass be end the line drawn through the pivot o the lever and the point of attachment of the bolt, so that the strain will hold the lever in the position shown in Fig. 3.
I do not limit my invention and the scope of the following claims to the fore oing illustration and description of the pre erred form of the invention in which it has been embodied, as these may be departed from to a greater orless extent without avoiding the invention.

In combination, a shell, a cap fitting said shell and having. an extension at one side edge with adepending wall, said wall havin an inlet opening, a receptacle secured to an wholly supported by said depending wall, a ridge extending across the upper surface of said cap and extension, said ridge having a communicating passage between the under surface of the cap and the under surface of the extension, a shaft projecting through said ridge and through said passage into the interior of the shell, a stullin box formed on the outer surface of said ridge, and means upon said shaft for creating flow of a current of fluid through the shell.
