To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAULQDAHHER, a sub ject of the King of Wurttemberg, and resident of 87 Waiblingerstrasse, Cannstatt, in the Kingdom of Wurttemberg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Explosion- Motors, of which the following is a specification.

Hitherto it has beenusual to arrange the sparking device laterally of the motor, the driving spindle of the sparking device being arranged parallel to the motor shaft. This arrangement has the disadvantage that special drive is required for the sparln'ng device and that the surface exposed to the resistance of the air during the travel ofthe vehicle is increased owing-to the sparking device projecting laterally from the motor.
lit has also hitherto been usual to arrange the water pump and oil pump at the side of the motor casing and operate them each by special drive, the driving spindles of the pumps being also arranged parallelly to the motor shaft. `Such an arrangement 'possesses the same disadvantages as that of the laterally arranged sparking device.
According to the present invention the hereinbefore mentioned deficiencies are obviated by rranging thesparking device at one end of he motor with its driving spindle vertical an driven directly from the motor shaft through suitable bevel gear. The sparking device, water pump and oil-pump are pre erably arranged one above another at one end of the mot/or and mutually driven from the motor shaft, the water pump being preferably arranged in the middle with its driving spindle in alinernent with the motor shaft and capable of being directly coupled therewith, while the spindles ofthe sparking device and oil pump are arranged vertical and driven from the motor shaft through suitable bevel gear. VBy this arrangement the surface exposed to the resistance of the air is not increased as there-is no projection beyond the side of the motor. n

The vertical spindles of the-sparking device and oil-pump must of course be arranged in lbearings which take up radial and axial thrlists as indicated on the drawings.
The apparatus as shown on the drawings has been. arranged in the middle of. the end surface of the motor casing, the longitudinal axis of the motor passing through the planeindicated' by the line A-B in Fig. 2.
The hereinbefore described arrangement has the advantage that owing. to the absence of the hitherto usual indivldual drive for the-different apparatus, the safe driving 0f the motor is insured, while owing to. the absence of lateral brackets for the apparatus the weight of the motor is decreased and owing to the arrangement of the apparatus at one end of the motor the surface exposed to the resistance of the air is decreased as compared with the heretofore usual arrangement.
