ELECTROLIER.
To all whom t may concern Be it known thatI, REUBEN B. BENJA- Mrma citizen of. the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of-Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electroliers, of which the followingisa full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had tothe ac# companying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to electroliers, and has as its object the provision of a device of this character which will be simple and convenient to manufacture, which may be packed into small compass for shipping purposes, and which will form a strong and substantial structure when Set up for use.
For an understanding of my invention reference is to be` had to the following description and the accompanying drawings, in which I have illustrated one of the forms in which the invention may be embodied.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a partially sectional elevation of an electrolier constructed in accordance with my invention, Fig. 2 is a plan of the same with the hood removed; Fig. 3 is a fragmentary section taken on the line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings, 10 is a supporting plate or member adapted to be secured to the lower end vof a conduit such as 11. To this plate are hinged the hollow lamp socket supporting arms 12, the hinged connection being effected by securing L- shaped extensibns 13 upon the ends of the arms 12 and connecting these extensions to the supporting plate 10 by means of hollow lrivets 14: passing through suitable holes formed in the supporting plate 10 and the respective extensions 13.
In order that the arms 12 may be supported in a horizontal plane, the supporting plate is bentahpwardly at its periphery to form an elevated liangea, and a 4sleeve 12a is placed upon each arin 12. These leeves 12a rest upon the flange 1()a and th arms are thereby properly supported. When, however, the electrolier is to be set up for use, the arms are swung into the position shown in full lines in Fig. 2.

In order to lock the arms in their ei tended position (shown in full lines in Figi 2), they are made to fit into properly l0- cated slots 15 formed in a removable casing 16 which is adapted to cover the'support plate 10 and the parts carried thereby. The slots 15 space the arms properly relatively to one another, but in order to give rigidity to the whole it-is desirable that at least one.

On the other side of this arml is placed a spring catch 18 'adapted to retain the arm in its extended position. This catch may be depressed manually when, if the casing 16 be removed, the arm may be swung to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2.
In order to impart a presentable appearance to the device the arms 12 are provided with dished caps 19 of such' shape as to con form to the curvature of the casing 16. These caps cover the edges of the slots 15 when the arms are located inthe slots. The

An electrolier comprising a support member, a plurality of lamp-socket-earrying members hingedly connected to said support members so as to be capable of swinging in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of said support member, means for locking one of said socket-carrying members in a determinate position relatively to said support member, and a casing adapted to inclose said support member, said casing having a plurality of recesses for receiving said lamp-socket-carrying members and thereby maintaining them in a determinate position relatively to one another.
