To all whom may concern Be it known that L CHRISTIAN P. CHRES- TENsnN, a subject ofthe King of Great Britain, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State'of'Penn- Sylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in fapenCutters, of which the following is a specification.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists' in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

The upper guide 2 is removably connected to the rods 9 by means ofthe springs 6' and 7 above referred to. The spring 7 is bent downwardly, and is provided with a hooked end 17 to engage underA the. lower rod 9, while the spring 6 is composed of two members 18, 18, which are straddled apart at their free ends and bowed outward at a point removed from their free ends, as illustrated at 1 9, the outwardly straddled portions 18 constituting an entrance for the upper rod 9, and the bowed out portions 19a clamp, to .clamp the rod. 'By means of these springs, the paper guide may be readily attached to or detached from the rods, and it may be.- moved along the rods as far as permitted bythe bar 11, which latter regulates the width of the strip cut from the paper.
In operation, the paper to be cutA is inserted in the 'guide 1, and the latter moved along the paper, or ther paper through the uide, and between the cutting rolls 15,
'which latter smoothly cut the strip from the paper.
Various slight changes might be made in the general form ,and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, 4but consider myself atv vliberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope .of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
