To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VVALTHER BEHM, a citizen of the German Empire, residing in New York, in the borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nozzles for Vacuum-Cleaners, of
i which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a suction nozzle for vacuum cleaners which is easily operative and eiiicient in action without particular care as to the angle at which itis held to the carpet or other surface being cleaned.
The object of the invention is to provide a nozzle of this character which is strong, durable and light and which will distribute the suction evenly from end to end of the contact part thereof.
In theaccompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing the nozzle in use. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal, vertical, sectional view of the same, and Figs. 3 and 4 .are sectional views taken respectively on lines 33 and 44 of Fig. I
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several fig-v .conduit may be a tubular handle of a power operated suction-cleaner or may be simply a hose connectlon, or it may be a direct connectionwith a hand-operated cleaner. The
nozzle may be connected to the' conduit 6 in any approved manner, as for instance, by means of a bayonet-slot 7 provided in the end of the-conduit 6 and in which engages a lug 8 on the stem 9 of the nozzle. The nozzlecomprises a longitudinal core 10 of approximately cylindrical shape and provided at its lower part with a downwardly opening longitudinalgroove 11 extending to the lower face thereof. This groove is deepest at its center and tapers outwardly to the ends, and, if desired, may terminate short of the ends as shown. Around the core is placed a sheet metal casing 12 firmly fitting thereon and curved at 15 around the lower edges of .the slot 11 and clamped thereto The ends of the core 10 are covered with an end piece 13 soldered orotherwise secured to the covand scope of the invention.

It is particularly understood that I may make various changes in the details of the nozzle, without departing from the spirit Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
