When it is desired to uncouple the cars, the balls are unlocked, so that they may be readily crowded aside or diverged by the receding bolt head, such unlocking being preferably under the control of the engineer. The means for actuating the balls in the manner described are as follows:

Be it known that I, LUoiUs Rinciinii, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Test Hoboken, county of Hudson, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Car-Coupler, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a car coupler of novel construction which permits the cars to be automatically coupled in a reliable inanner, while the uncoupling is placed under the full control of the engineer, so that delays and accidents in making up trains 4are avoided.
