Similar tensional means N, opposing longitudinal movement of the wheeled support- H1, extend between the shaft 14 and the main frame A. The tension means M comprise contractile coil springs 17 tied at their ends to the end portions of the shaft 14 and to i the frame member 16; and the tension means 95 operatively bear upon the earth even if the main frame A and the other parts of the machine or apparatus are in a condition of distilrbed lateral or longitudinal stability.
The operation, method of use and advantages of the improvements in starting gear, running gear or alighting gear constituting vor embodying the invention will be readily understood /from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the-following statement.
The machine or apparatus, in initiating the movement thereof, travels upon the, wheeled supports H1 and H2. When the machine or apparatus again descends to the earth, the alghtin means or running gear H, d ue to the yielding formation of the for wardwheeled support H1 thereof, permitting the machine to Aadapt itself upon its course upon the surfaceof the earth to varyingconditions of stability .or lunevenness of running silrface, thus permitting the ma'- chine to take the earth again, upon descent from flight, even when such descent' is acf companied by disturbed lateral or longitudinal stabilit or balance, or both. Itis manif fest that t e rearward wheeled support H2 may, if preferred, be organized similarly to the forward wheeled support H1.. The tension means M and eN, while permitting the forward wheeled support H1 to yield or give laterally or longitudinally, in the compensating manner above described, nevertheless oppose such yielding movements, resiliently, and check finally any. tendency of the' machine or apparatus to upset or fall.
