B. requirements for steam The result of such loose coupling is that in pushing cars or in operating trains of four or more cars there is considerable buckling and jerking, because of the flexibility of the coupling members. That is particularly true where long trains of five to eight cars are operated by unit control, that is, there being a motor in each car and all the cars being controlled by an operator in the forward car.
